Fiat Grande Panda: overview and pricing

Fiat has opened UK order books for the new Grande Panda, a retro‑futuristic small crossover that aims squarely at value-conscious buyers. Prices start at £18,035 for the mild‑hybrid model, while the battery electric Grande Panda begins at £21,035. Named Best Small Car at the 2025 Autocar Awards, the Grande Panda undercuts key rivals on price and brings distinctive styling to the crowded compact crossover segment.

Design and market positioning

The Grande Panda mixes retro cues with modern touches to create a standout compact crossover look. Fiat positions it as an affordable, design-led city crossover — an alternative for buyers seeking character as well as practicality. Its pricing strategy pits the mild‑hybrid against the Renault Clio and places the EV below competitors such as the Hyundai Inster, delivering strong value in both combustion and electric segments.

Vehicle specifications

Mild‑hybrid

The mild‑hybrid pairs a 1.2‑litre turbo three‑cylinder petrol engine with a 29bhp electric motor integrated into a six‑speed automatic gearbox. Combined outputs are 109bhp and 107lb ft of torque, enabling a 0–62mph time of 10.0 seconds — a practical balance of performance and economy for urban and suburban driving.

Electric variant (EV)

The electric Grande Panda uses a single front‑mounted motor rated at 111bhp and 90lb ft, with 0–62mph achieved in 11.0 seconds. A 44kWh battery delivers an official range of around 199 miles and supports DC charging up to 100kW for faster top‑up sessions.

Performance, efficiency and charging

Both powertrains focus on everyday usability. The mild‑hybrid improves fuel efficiency and low‑speed response, while the EV offers a competitive electric range and rapid charging capability at public 100kW chargers. These attributes make the Grande Panda suitable for daily commuting, city driving and occasional longer trips.

Availability, incentives and dealer tour

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November. Although the electric model does not currently qualify for the government’s latest Electric Car Grant, Fiat has reintroduced its own £1,500 ‘e‑grant’ to reduce the EV price. Selected dealers will showcase the Grande Panda on a nationwide tour from 4 September to 11 October. Fiat reports high interest, with several thousand prospective buyers registering ahead of launch.

How it compares

At £18,035 the mild‑hybrid Grande Panda undercuts models such as the Renault Clio (from £18,995), and the £21,035 electric version is priced below rivals like the Hyundai Inster (from £23,505). For buyers prioritising affordability, distinctive design and practical urban performance, the Grande Panda is a compelling new choice in the compact crossover market.
