Samsung publishes One UI 8 eligibility roadmap for 2025
Samsung has begun deploying One UI 8 — the company’s Android 16-based firmware — and has quietly published an eligibility list showing which Galaxy phones and tablets are slated to receive the upgrade by the end of 2025. The roll-out started on September 15 with the Galaxy S25 family, and Samsung’s roadmap indicates most supported devices will be updated across the rest of the year.
Who’s first and when the rest follow
The Galaxy S25 lineup was the first to receive One UI 8, and Samsung has signaled that the broader roll-out will accelerate from October onward. The company’s published list is helpful but not exhaustive — some special editions and region-specific models (notably some Galaxy F and Galaxy M variants) are not explicitly listed in the footnotes.
Major device groups confirmed for One UI 8
Below is a condensed overview of the device families Samsung says will be eligible. This reflects the company’s update roadmap while omitting some region-limited or special-edition entries.
- Galaxy S series: S25, S25+, S25 Ultra (Edge model included), plus recent S24, S23 and S22 flagships.
- Galaxy Z series (foldables): Fold and Flip devices from the Fold 4/5/6 and Flip 4/5/6 generations.
- Galaxy FE and compact variants: Recent FE phones and corresponding FE tablets are listed.
- Galaxy Tab: Selected Tab S8–S10 generation tablets and Tab S9/S10 FE models.
- Galaxy A series: Multiple mid-range A-series phones, covering A73/A56 down through the A06/A07 models.
This grouping gives a clear picture: flagship and many mid-range Galaxy devices will see One UI 8 by the end of 2025, though exact timing will vary by model, carrier and market.

What One UI 8 brings and why it matters
One UI 8 builds on Android 16 and focuses on smoother performance, updated privacy and customization options, and refinements to Samsung’s multi-window and DeX experiences. For users, that means:
- Better long-term support for apps and security updates.
- Improved multitasking on foldables and tablets.
- UI tweaks and feature parity across newer and older Galaxy models.
From a market perspective, this broad compatibility helps Samsung maintain device longevity and keeps mid-range phones competitive against rivals that offer extended update commitments.
Notes on exclusions and how to check
If your specific model isn’t named in Samsung’s public list, don’t assume it’s excluded — regional variants and special editions sometimes appear in later communications or carrier-level announcements. To check availability:
- Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install on your Galaxy device.
- Follow Samsung’s official support pages for the full, updated eligibility list.
Overall, the One UI 8 schedule shows Samsung’s continuing push to align a wide range of devices with Android 16, while leaving room for last-minute adjustments for region-specific models and limited editions.
