Hisense debuts a 150-inch screen-sound laser TV
Hisense has expanded its premium Xplorer X1 Ultra line with two larger models in China, introducing 139-inch and a headline-grabbing 150-inch screen. Branded in some markets as the Discovery X1 Ultra, this launch brings what the company calls the world’s first 150-inch sound-emitting laser TV to the market — aiming to blend cinema-scale visuals with integrated directional audio.
Display technology and image performance
The Xplorer X1 Ultra appears to be the Chinese counterpart to Hisense’s TriChroma Laser TV L9Q. It uses a dual MCL39 tri-color RGB laser engine co-developed with Texas Instruments to deliver up to 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness and roughly 110% of the BT.2020 color volume. A new SST-architecture DMD chip provides pixel-level light control to reduce haloing, while MEMC supports smoother motion for fast scenes. The projector’s ultra-short throw design — about a 0.18 throw ratio — lets the optical module sit extremely close to the wall, producing a near flush-mounted 2 cm screen.

Screen and room handling
To preserve contrast in bright rooms, Hisense pairs the laser unit with a Nano Spectrum Selective Screen Pro that claims under 1% reflectivity. The panel is 2H-hardened, scratch-resistant and foldable, and the set is TÜV-certified for reduced blue light and eye protection.
Audio: directional, immersive, and loud
Audio is a major focus: a Harman Kardon-engineered 9.1.4-channel system houses 15 drivers plus a wireless subwoofer (11.9L chamber) and peaks at 206W. The system supports Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Hisense’s screen-vibration directional sound that maps audio cues to on-screen action for more immersive playback.
Smart features, connectivity and performance
- Processor & storage: MediaTek MT9655, 4GB RAM, 1TB storage
- Networking & playback: Wi‑Fi 7, native 4K UI, 4K MAX high-bitrate playback
- Inputs: four HDMI 2.1 ports, USB 3.0/2.0, Ethernet, RS232, optical/coaxial audio
- Extras: NFC remote for tap-to-cast, DeepSeek AI voice and scene tips
The set lists a measured color accuracy around ΔE≈0.6 and can render roughly 6.9 billion colors. The full system draws about 350W; the 150-inch screen is lightweight for its size, and the main projection unit is reported at roughly 13.1 kg.

Pricing and market context
Hisense has published local prices for the Xplorer X1 Ultra family in China:
- 150-inch: ¥99,999 (~$13,700)
- 139-inch: ¥79,999 (~$11,200)
- 120-inch: ¥69,999 (~$9,800)
- 100-inch: ¥49,999 (~$7,000)
These models position Hisense against high-end laser TV competitors and premium projectors, offering a fast-install, ultra-short throw form factor and integrated high-end audio. For buyers seeking a near-cinematic setup without a separate AV stack, the X1 Ultra line aims to simplify installation while delivering room-filling visuals and immersive sound.
