Samsung is reportedly preparing to unveil its first tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, with a rumored launch on December 5. Early leaks from Ice Universe and Korean outlet The Chosun sketch out key specs — from display sizes to battery capacity — and suggest this will be a limited, high-end release.
What the leaks say about design and screens
According to the reports, the TriFold will open to a slim 4.2mm profile and measure about 14mm when fully closed — noticeably thicker than Samsung’s recent Galaxy Z Fold7, which closes to roughly 8.9mm (the hinge gap contributes to that measurement). The phone is said to keep a 6.5-inch cover display for one-handed use but expands to a wide 10-inch inner display when unfolded, trading the Fold7’s squarish 8-inch panel for a more tablet-like widescreen experience.
Battery and internals: more cells, more capacity
One of the standout figures from the leaks is the 5,600mAh battery, split across three cells — one in each segment of the tri-fold design. That’s a clear increase over the Fold7’s 4,400mAh two-cell setup and suggests Samsung is prioritizing endurance for a larger, more power-hungry inner display.
