Huawei’s newest foldable, the Mate X7, refines the formula with tougher protection, a larger battery and the company’s fresh Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. It’s a lighter, slimmer handset on the outside with meaningful upgrades under the hood.
Stronger build and real-world water resistance
One of the standout headlines here is ingress protection. Huawei lists IP58 and IP59 ratings for the Mate X7 — in plain terms, this foldable is dust-protected and built to shrug off splashes and even close-range, high-pressure water jets. It’s a useful step forward for anyone who wants a premium foldable that’s less fussy around pools, cafés or rainy commutes.
Slimmer profile, familiar durability
Despite beefier internals, the Mate X7 trims a little bulk. It measures 9.5mm when folded and just 4.5mm when open, while weighing 235 grams — about 4 grams lighter than the Mate X6. The aluminum frame keeps the device feeling sturdy without adding extra heft, so you get a tactile, high-end foldable that’s still pocketable.

Bigger, smoother screens for multitasking
The Mate X7 brings slightly larger panels: a 6.49-inch cover screen with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio and an 8-inch main display with an 8:7.3 ratio. Both panels are LTPO OLEDs with a wide 1–120Hz variable refresh range and ultra-fast 1,440Hz PWM dimming. That means smoother scrolling, better battery efficiency during static content, and less flicker for sensitive eyes.
Camera upgrades where it counts
Huawei keeps the excellent 50MP main camera from the previous generation — the RYYB sensor with a 10-stop physical variable aperture (f/1.4–4.0) and OIS — but upgrades the telephoto module to a 50MP sensor with a wider f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom. You also get a 40MP ultrawide and dual 8MP selfie cameras (one on the cover screen and one on the inner display). The result is a versatile camera suite capable of detailed portraits, long-range shots and expansive landscapes.

Performance: Kirin 9030 Pro steps up
Under the hood the Mate X7 runs Huawei’s new Kirin 9030 Pro, the same flagship silicon powering the Mate 80 Pro series. Early details describe a nine-core ARMv8 design with a 2.75GHz prime core, four performance cores at 2.27GHz and four efficiency cores at 1.72GHz. Memory options include 12GB and 16GB RAM, with a top-tier 20GB configuration on the highest model, and up to 1TB of storage. It’s a serious performer for multitasking, gaming and splitting apps across the large inner display.
Battery life and charging: bigger and faster
The Mate X7 uses a dual-cell Si-C battery architecture totaling 5,600mAh. Fast charging is supported at 66W wired and 50W wireless — fast enough to get you quickly back to full power during a busy day. Combine that capacity with LTPO screens and efficient silicon, and you should expect solid day-plus real-world endurance under mixed use.
Software and connectivity perks
Out of the box the device runs HarmonyOS 6 in China and includes satellite connectivity for emergencies, a feature that adds extra peace of mind for travelers and outdoor users. Huawei continues to build its ecosystem around tight hardware-software integration, which shows in battery tuning and multiwindow workflows on the foldable screen.

Color choices, trims and price tags
The Mate X7 arrives in Black, White, Purple and Red. Pricing in China starts at CNY 12,999 (about $1,830) for the 12/256GB model, CNY 13,999 ($1,970) for 12/512GB, and a 16/512GB Collector’s Edition at CNY 14,999 ($2,111). The flagship 20GB/1TB option is priced at CNY 17,999 (around $2,534). Open sales in China are scheduled for December 5.
For buyers looking for a premium foldable that blends durability, display tech and upgraded cameras, the Mate X7 is a compelling option — especially if you value water resistance and longer battery life in a slim, stylish package.

Nice battery and cameras, but pricing is wild. 2.5k for a foldable? If the software's locked to HarmonyOS only tho… hmm, maybe for diehards

IP58 and IP59? Huh, that sounds almost too good to be true. Real world water jets… curious about long term hinge durability tho, if that's real then…
