Mercedes-AMG debuts redesigned GT 4-Door hyper sedan in Las Vegas
At last week's Las Vegas Grand Prix, Mercedes-AMG pulled the cover back on a redesigned GT 4-Door — a high-performance electric hyper sedan that channels the dramatic styling of the AMG GT XX concept. Seen with less camouflage than earlier prototypes, the production-intent model reveals star-shaped LED headlights, a closed grille, vertical air intakes and a subtle front splitter.
Design and interior cues
The bodywork is clean and purposeful, with flush door handles and a smooth silhouette that suggests focused aerodynamic development. The rear is still partly concealed, but the lower bumper appears close to a production-ready design. Interior spy photos remain fuzzy, yet leaked shots previously hinted at a d-cut steering wheel and a sweeping curved display similar to AMG’s concept cars.

Underpinnings and expected performance
Mercedes has confirmed the GT 4-Door will sit on its new AMG.EA platform — a lightweight architecture combining aluminum, high-strength steel and composite fiber to optimize stiffness and weight. The prototype points to an advanced battery pack and a high-performance electric drive, with the top concept showing up to three axial-flux motors. In the AMG GT XX concept that inspired this car, the system produced more than 1,341 hp on paper; production versions are likely to be detuned for durability and regulatory compliance.
- Platform: AMG.EA (aluminum, steel, composite)
- Powertrain: advanced battery, up to three axial-flux electric motors (concept: 1,341+ hp)
- Design highlights: closed grille, star-shaped headlights, vertical intakes, flush door handles
Quote: "This car represents AMG's next chapter, merging extreme performance with electric engineering," said an AMG engineer speaking on condition of anonymity.

Market positioning and outlook
Mercedes' hyper sedans — historically represented by models like the AMG S 63 E Performance and GT 63 S — mix lavish luxury with extreme power. The new electric GT 4-Door aims to carry that DNA into the EV era, delivering high-speed capability, exclusivity and cutting-edge technology. Alongside a related electric crossover, the GT 4-Door is strategic for AMG as it transitions from twin-turbo V8s and hybrid powertrains to a fully electrified performance lineup.

Expect Mercedes to refine final power, range and production specifications as the car moves from prototype to assembly lines. For enthusiasts, the Las Vegas reveal confirmed AMG’s electrified ambitions and signaled a new flagship for the hyper sedan segment.
