Genesis brought its Magma GT and X Skorpio concept cars to the Mottarone hillclimb in Italy for a dynamic debut, running both machines up the 5.5-mile (9-kilometer) Tutto Bene course to demonstrate they are functioning driving prototypes rather than static show cars.
Genesis used the Mottarone hillclimb to show the Magma GT and X Skorpio are operational prototypes, not static design shells.

Event and context
The Tutto Bene Hillclimb on Mount Mottarone overlooks Lake Maggiore in Piedmont and is an invitation-only event. Genesis entered both concepts for the run: the mid-engine Magma GT, which first appeared publicly at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June but did not move then, and the rugged X Skorpio concept. At Mottarone both concepts completed the climb, underlining the brand's intent to validate the designs in dynamic conditions.
Specifications and construction
The Magma GT is powered by a 3.2-liter twin-turbocharged engine rated at 800 horsepower (811 PS) and 470 pound-feet (637 Newton meters) of torque, with the manufacturer noting the figure could increase if the layout is integrated into a plug-in hybrid system. Genesis lists estimated performance of under 3.0 seconds for 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) and a top speed of 200 mph (322 kph). The car is presented as a mid-engine driving prototype after being static at its public debut in June.

The X Skorpio is conceived as a reinterpretation of Genesis' "Athletic Elegance." It is built around a tubular chassis with an integrated roll cage and uses segmented, armor-like body panels made from a composite blend of carbon fiber, fiberglass, and Kevlar. Genesis describes the architecture as derived from off-road racing; the concept combines high-endurance components with a rugged visual approach.

Genesis expects the Skorpio concept to use the same 3.2-liter twin-turbo V8 as the Magma GT, but tuned to produce about 1,100 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. The package is specified to include Brembo Motorsport brakes, a high-clearance suspension designed for high-speed desert runs, 18-inch beadlock wheels and massive 40-inch custom off-road tires. A beadlock wheel mechanically clamps the tire bead to the rim to reduce the risk of tire separation at very low pressures, while the roll cage provides structural protection for high-stress off-road use.

Driver and race-team link
Genesis Magma Racing driver André Lotterer piloted the X Skorpio up the Mottarone hill. Lotterer recently helped the team achieve its best result of the 2026 World Endurance Championship season at the Lone Star Le Mans at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. In that race he and teammates Pipo Derani and Mathys Jaubert recovered from an early incident and a penalty to finish seventh and score points with the #17 GMR-001 Hypercar.
