Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the updated W206 C-Class will reach the United States in the first half of 2027, arriving as the 2027 C 350 and C 350 4Matic. The announcement makes clear the combustion-powered fifth generation, refreshed in mid 2026, will come to America with a single powertrain offered in either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive guises.

The W206 update, introduced globally during the summer of 2026, is distinct from Mercedes-Benz’s W520 C-Class Electric. The revised petrol model adopts the refreshed face and interior language seen on recent facelifted siblings such as the S-Class, GLE and GLS, including an illuminated radiator grille, a centrally lit Mercedes star, and a reworked lamp graphic at both ends of the car. Mercedes says the update brings a sportier presence, expanded comfort features and a high-tech, electrified combustion engine to the C-Class line.

Mathias Geisen, member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, framed the revision as a balance of continuity and new technology. "The new C-Class proves that continuity and innovation are not mutually exclusive. With its sporty elegance, electrified high-tech powertrain and intelligent support powered by MB.OS, it delivers what drivers truly need: proven reliability and innovative technology that creates real added value in everyday life. In this way, a familiar classic becomes a modern companion," he said.

Inside, the facelift brings the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System MB.OS and an updated MBUX. The AI-based MBUX Virtual Assistant gains short-term memory and broader conversational ability, while intelligent navigation now uses Google technology alongside MBUX Surround Navigation. Mercedes also lists a new multifunction steering wheel with more ergonomic controls, standard MB.DRIVE, and PARKING ASSIST 360 among the equipment updates. Optional and upgraded comfort features include a refined Burmester 3D Surround Sound System, two new exterior colors and three new trim finishes, plus a tuned suspension setup.

Powertrain and efficiency

The sole engine for the U.S. market is the updated 2.0-liter M 254 EVO four-cylinder, paired with a 48-volt electrical system. Mercedes rates the unit at 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, with an overboost function that adds roughly 27 hp for about 20 seconds. The second-generation integrated starter-generator, ISG 2.0, can assist the engine at low speeds with up to 23 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque, and supports features such as coasting and recuperation to improve efficiency.

Mercedes describes ISG 2.0 as enabling an almost imperceptible transition between coasting with the engine off and propulsion under engine power, and it helps make the start-stop function smoother for drivers. The company positions these 48-volt features as part of a high-tech electrified combustion approach rather than a full hybrid or battery-electric powertrain.

The updated C-Class continues a long lineage for Mercedes-Benz. Introduced in 1982, the model family has sold more than twelve million vehicles worldwide and remains a core product in the maker’s compact executive segment. Mercedes says the refreshed, petrol-powered W206 will be available in U.S. dealerships during the first half of 2027 as the 2027 Mercedes-Benz C 350 and C 350 4Matic.
