Xiaomi has confirmed two new accessories will join the Xiaomi 17 Ultra at its December 25 launch: the Watch 5 smartwatch and Buds 6 earbuds. Both promise upgrades in sensors, materials and smart features aimed at competing at the high end of wearables and audio.
Watch 5: flagship hardware meets new muscle-signal sensing
The Xiaomi Watch 5 arrives as what the company calls a "fully intelligent flagship" smartwatch. It runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 wearable platform — a 4nm chip that pairs efficiency with a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU for smoother performance and longer battery life.

What stands out is Xiaomi’s inclusion of an EMG (electromyography) sensor alongside an ECG (electrocardiogram). While ECG tracks heart rhythm, EMG detects tiny electrical signals from wrist muscles as you intend to move. In practice, that means gesture control and faster, more intuitive interaction with the watch — imagine flicking or tapping your wrist to trigger actions without touching the screen.
On the build side, the Watch 5 adopts a classic round dial protected by sapphire glass rated 9 on the Mohs scale and a one-piece forged stainless steel case for durability and a premium feel. Strap options include brown and green tones, reflecting Xiaomi’s push to blend style with rugged materials.

Buds 6: semi-in-ear design, AI features and lossless audio promises
The Buds 6 are Xiaomi’s next flagship semi-in-ear earbuds, officially teased in Pink, White and Black. The design uses biomimetic curves for a comfortable fit and the company touts “CD-level lossless original sound,” suggesting upgraded codecs and tuning.
Beyond pure audio, Xiaomi is pushing software-driven capabilities: intelligent recording, on-device translation and AI-powered summarization. Those features aim to position the Buds 6 as productivity tools as much as music accessories — useful for meetings, travel and multitasking.

For context, the Buds 5 launched at 699 yuan last year and offered semi-in-ear ANC, Qualcomm lossless audio support, spatial audio and up to 39 hours of playback with ANC off. The Buds 6 will likely build on that foundation, but Xiaomi has not yet revealed final specs or pricing.
Why this matters
With the Watch 5 and Buds 6, Xiaomi is doubling down on premium materials, stronger sensor suites and AI features to differentiate from rivals. Expect improvements in gesture control, fitness tracking accuracy and smarter earbuds that do more than play music. If you follow wearable tech, the December 25 reveal should be worth watching.
