Ram finally fits the Power Wagon with a high-output diesel
Ram has answered one of its loudest requests: the 2027 Power Wagon is now available with a Cummins High-Output 6.7-liter turbo diesel. The new powerplant pumps out 430 horsepower and a staggering 1,075 lb-ft of torque, giving this off-road icon a new level of low-end muscle and long-range capability.
Performance and range
Paired with the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed automatic transmission and a 31-gallon fuel tank, Ram estimates the diesel Power Wagon can achieve up to roughly 600 miles of driving range under ideal conditions. To help manage the extra torque, Ram uses a 3.42 rear axle ratio tuned for heavy-duty pulling and trail work.

Still built for the trail
Don’t mistake the added diesel power for a compromise in capability. The 2027 Power Wagon keeps its off-road DNA intact with a load of purpose-built hardware:
- Front and rear electronic locking differentials
- Disconnecting front sway bar for maximum wheel articulation
- Heavy-duty Bilstein shocks
- Extensive underbody skid protection and Mopar rock rails
- Ram’s five-link coil rear suspension for improved ride and roughly 13.0 inches of ground clearance
Off-road geometry is impressive: a 26.1-degree approach angle, a 20.6-degree breakover, and a 26.0-degree departure angle, so the truck remains a serious contender for tough trails and rock-crawling days.

Towing and practicality
Ram has also upgraded the Power Wagon’s towing capabilities. The gearbox and rear axle ratio work together to handle the diesel’s torque without overheating the driveline, and for the first time the Power Wagon can be ordered with fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing prep. An available automatic-leveling rear air suspension will help when towing heavy loads or carrying uneven cargo.
Design and interior
On the outside the diesel Power Wagon clearly signals its intent: 34-inch all-terrain tires on 20-inch Satin Black wheels, a sporty performance hood, Power Wagon bed graphics and subtle satin-black Cummins badges on the fenders. Mopar rock rails and aggressive bumpers complete the look.

Inside, the truck mirrors Ram’s Heavy Duty luxury cues. Buyers can opt for cloth or heated and ventilated leather bucket seats. Technology includes a 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, an available front passenger display and premium audio from Alpine or Harman Kardon. Safety and driver aids are comprehensive, with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring that covers trailers, and surround-view cameras tailored for both off-road maneuvering and towing.
Price and availability
The Cummins-powered 2027 Ram Power Wagon goes on sale in the second half of 2026, starting at $88,470 including destination. It’s not inexpensive, but for buyers seeking a purpose-built off-road truck with genuine diesel torque and heavy-duty towing chops, this model delivers what many Ram enthusiasts have long awaited.
