Slim phones rarely come with gargantuan batteries. The Honor Play 11 Pro quietly proves they can.

At first glance it's a study in contradiction: a 6.6-inch 1.5K OLED panel that refreshes at 120Hz, yet the handset manages a svelte 7.34mm profile and weighs only 185g. The screen is sharp and bright — Honor rates peak luminance at an eye-catching 6,500 nits — and it uses 3840Hz PWM dimming to ease strain in low light. Little touches like a high screen-to-body ratio (about 95 percent) make the display feel modern and immersive.

It's not a flagship silicon package, but it’s balanced for everyday apps and light gaming while helping the phone squeeze long battery life from that oversized 7,000mAh cell. Charging is capped at 45W, so refills are reasonably quick for a battery this big.

Honor says the battery will retain at least 80 percent capacity after 1,000 charge cycles — roughly six years of typical use — a claim that makes long-term ownership more believable than ever.

Camera hardware is straightforward: a 50MP primary sensor at the back and an 8MP selfie shooter up front. You shouldn't expect radical imaging tricks, but the main camera is competent for daylight shots and social sharing. The chassis mixes a metal frame with a water- and dust-resistant rating of IP66, and Honor has even slapped an SGS five-star drop resistance certificate on the spec sheet — unusual for a mid-range Play-series device.

Tech-watchers will notice echoes of another model: the Play 11 Pro looks very much like a rebranded Honor X80i in several respects. That's not necessarily a knock — it's a practical move that gives buyers familiar hardware with a fresh name and positioning.

Price and availability are practical too. Honor opened reservations in China for a single 8GB/256GB trim priced at 2,099 Yuan (about $310), with Moon Silver, Sunrise Gold and Midnight Black listed as colour options — though only Midnight Black initially appears available for reservation on the store page.

So what's the takeaway? If you want a large, bright OLED and multi-day battery endurance without lugging a brick of a phone, the Play 11 Pro deserves a look. Will that trade-off—strong battery and modest silicon—appeal to enough buyers outside China? Time will tell.
