Leaks have a way of spoiling the party. Hours after chatter about a 10,000 mAh Poco X8 Power surfaced, more detailed marketing slides have appeared online, pulling back the curtain on both the X8 and the X8 Power.
They look less like fresh designs and more like name changes on familiar hardware. The slides strongly suggest Poco is repackaging Redmi Note 17 Pro models with only a few tweaks — a tactic brands often use to hit new markets faster.
The standard X8 reportedly packs a 6.83 inch AMOLED display that can peak at a brutal 3,500 nits, topped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Imaging is led by a 50 MP main camera with OIS and a 16 MP selfie shooter. Battery life is a headline: a quoted 9,000 mAh cell with 67W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Under the hood sits the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, and Poco is promising robust software care: four major OS upgrades plus six years of security updates. Dust and water protection is unusually comprehensive on paper, listing IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.

The X8 Power keeps the same 6.83 inch panel and main sensor but shifts other priorities. You get an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 32 MP selfie unit, and the battery swells to 10,000 mAh with faster 100W wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging. The chipset here is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, while the IP ratings and software support mirror the standard X8.
According to the leak, both phones are set for an India debut by early September and will slot below the Poco X8 Pro on price. That positioning makes sense if Poco truly is leaning on Redmi hardware: lower development costs, quicker market entry, and clear price segmentation.
So what should buyers watch for? Battery sizes like 9,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh will grab headlines, but real-world charging speeds, thermal behavior, and software polish matter more than raw numbers. Rebadges can deliver great value — or disappointment if software support or component sourcing is cut too thin. Expect official word from Poco soon, and a closer look once retail units start showing up in the wild.
