This Giant Camera Ring Could Define the vivo X500 Pro Max

When a phone's camera island is as wide as the device itself, you stop scrolling and look twice. That’s the reaction to a leaked photo and a hands-on TikTok clip that allegedly show the vivo X500 Pro Max — and its outrageously large camera ring.

The image pairs two phones side by side. The left one looks like the vivo X300 Ultra; the right one is the rumored X500 Pro Max. The difference is obvious. The X500’s camera housing stretches across the back like a horizon line. It’s theatrical. Deliberate. Hard to ignore.

The TikTok clip turns the tease into a small spectacle. Angle, lighting, or design? The ring appears to protrude from the top, with tiny numbers etched along its edge. Could those markings be ISO indicators? Or are they a design flourish meant to suggest analog controls? Either way, they hint that the ring isn’t merely decorative — it looks built to be touched and turned, likely to adjust manual camera settings on the fly.

Leaks indicate a triple-camera lineup: two 50MP sensors and a 200MP module. The main shooter is said to be a 50MP 1/1.28-inch Sony sensor, while the telephoto unit reportedly uses a 200MP 1/1.4 Samsung HP0 — the same high-resolution tele sensor seen in the X300 Ultra. The ultra-wide may be another Sony 50MP IMX8-series chip. None of these details are fully confirmed, but the rumor mosaic aligns with vivo’s recent push: more pixels, larger sensors, and increasingly ambitious hardware design.

If the ring doubles as a physical control for exposure, ISO or zoom presets, it would be one of the clearest attempts yet to blend tactile camera controls with modern smartphone photography.

vivo has already disclosed a few official specs for the Pro Max model. The screen will be a 6.85-inch LTPO panel with a 144Hz refresh rate — reportedly the world’s first BOE Q11 panel of that size and class. Under the hood, vivo plans to use one of the upcoming Dimensity 9600-class chipsets, promising flagship-level performance and efficiency.
