Chery and Huawei-backed Luxeed RX debuts with 852 km range

The Luxeed RX, a new electric SUV developed by Chery in partnership with Huawei, has launched in China with a manufacturer-claimed range of up to 852 km and a starting price of 259,800 CNY.

Luxeed is a joint brand created by Chery and Huawei and operates under the HIMA alliance alongside Aito, Stalato and Makstro. The RX was designed by Werner Gruber, whose resume includes work with Ferrari, Pininfarina and Salin. Pricing for the RX is set between 259,800 and 389,800 CNY (about 38,700 to 58,065 USD).

Dimensions and interior technology

The RX measures 5,020 mm long, 2,007 mm wide and 1,585 mm high, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. The body is 21 mm longer than the Xiaomi YU7. The cabin features a floating 16.1-inch main display, an 8.88-inch passenger display, a digital instrument cluster and a 26-inch head-up display. The vehicle’s advanced driver assistance suite includes 38 sensors and four lidars; the manufacturer says this hardware enables point-to-point autonomous driving.

Powertrains, batteries and track performance

The RX is available in a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version producing 371 hp on the rear axle and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version producing 586 hp. Battery capacities range from 81.1 to 100.42 kWh. The +Luxeed RX Ultra recorded a lap of 1:43.210 at the Zhejiang International Circuit, beating a rival time of 1:43.384 set by the Xiaomi YU7 Max and claiming the fastest lap for a Chinese electric SUV at the facility.
