AMG brings two new GT models to Australia: agile 43 and track-ready 63 Pro
Mercedes-AMG has widened its GT coupe family in Australia with two distinct additions: the entry-level GT 43 and the high-performance GT 63 Pro 4Matic+. Rather than a cosmetic special edition, these are bona fide new model variants that broaden the choice for buyers looking for anything from lightweight agility to near-ultimate road-and-track capability.
From Edition R to full-model variety
Recently AMG expanded its Edition R lineup across SUVs and coupes in Australia, introducing sharper styling and extra specification to cars such as the GLE 53 and GLC 43. Those releases offered compelling options, but the GT 43 and GT 63 Pro mark a different step: new engines and performance targets, not just trim enhancements.
The strategy is clear — provide a broader performance ladder for the GT fastback coupe so customers can choose a more accessible four-cylinder performance coupe or step up to a V8 flagship tuned for higher speeds and improved cooling and aero.

GT 43: Lightweight, responsive and efficient
At the entry point sits the Mercedes-AMG GT 43, priced from AUD 249,900 (MRLP). It uses a compact 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder allied to a 48‑volt mild-hybrid system. Peak output is 310 kW and 500 Nm (around 416 hp and 369 lb-ft), with a brief 10 kW boost available from the mild-hybrid system.
Key performance figures:
- 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph): 4.6 seconds
- Top speed: 280 km/h (174 mph)
- Engine tech: electric exhaust gas turbocharger derived from F1 development for instant throttle response
Australian GT 43 models also come well equipped from the factory, with features such as AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension, the AMG Dynamic Plus pack included as standard, the Driving Assistance Package Plus and a Burmester audio system on the options list.
GT 63 Pro 4Matic+: more power, improved cooling and aero
Sitting above the regular GT 63 is the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+, a more focused flagship that raises output from the 4.0‑litre twin‑turbo V8. AMG engineers have tuned the V8 to 450 kW and 850 Nm (about 603 hp and 627 lb-ft), an increment of 20 kW and 50 Nm over the standard GT 63.

Performance highlights:
- 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph): 10.9 seconds (roughly half a second quicker than the standard GT 63)
- Top speed: 317 km/h (197 mph)
The Pro model benefits from upgraded aerodynamics and enhanced cooling, signalling AMG’s focus on sustained high-performance driving on road and circuit. It is priced from AUD 418,900 (MRLP).
Options, equipment and market positioning
AMG offers a number of option packages to personalise each GT. For the GT 43 customers can choose limited-availability packages like the AMG Prime Package; both models can be specified with visual and performance options such as an AMG Night Package, carbon-fibre aero and interior trim, and the Burmester high-end 3D surround sound upgrade on the GT 63 Pro.
Quick options summary:
- AMG Prime Package (limited availability)
- AMG Night Package — darker visual elements
- AMG Carbon Fibre Package — exterior and interior carbon trim
- Burmester 3D surround sound — premium audio upgrade

What this means for buyers
The new GT 43 gives buyers an accessible entry into Mercedes-AMG’s two-door halo coupe, combining modern four-cylinder efficiency with genuine AMG dynamics. The GT 63 Pro, meanwhile, targets enthusiasts who want extra horsepower, improved cooling and sharper aero for more demanding driving.
With both models arriving in the Land Down Under, AMG is clearly reinforcing its performance lineup to suit a range of tastes — from spirited daily driving to outright high-speed capability on track days. For Australian buyers, the expanded GT range complements AMG’s recent Edition R releases and provides clearer stepping stones within the coupe portfolio.
"Two very different characters, one GT family," might sum up AMG’s approach: a nimble, tech-driven four-cylinder coupe on one hand and a muscular, circuit-capable V8 flagship on the other.
