Samsung delays Project Moohan online debut to October 21
Samsung's first headset running Android XR, known internally as Project Moohan, reportedly missed its late-September target. A new report from Korea says the company has pushed the online launch to October 21, with availability expected immediately after the event.
Launch timing and market approach
According to the same sources, Samsung plans an online-only unveiling followed by immediate sales. The company is eyeing an initial batch target of around 100,000 units but will adjust production based on early market demand. A separate launch is planned for the Galaxy Z TriFold device, so the Moohan will not share a stage with Samsung’s first tri-fold phone — that handset is now expected in late October or November.
Stated reason for the shift
Reportedly, the delay is down to "coordinating internal marketing strategies." Samsung has not provided further details, leaving analysts to speculate that the timing is intended to optimize promotional windows and logistics ahead of a global push.
Key specs, price and comparisons
Leaks and local reports have already outlined the headset's core hardware:
- Platform: Android XR (first major headset reported to run this platform)
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- Display: Extremely high pixel density, around 3,800 ppi per reports

In Korea, the Moohan is expected to carry a price near KRW 2 million (roughly $1,400). That would position it below Apple Vision Pro on price but well above Meta's Quest 3, placing Samsung in a premium but competitive segment of the XR market.
Where it fits in the XR landscape
With Android XR and a high-density display, the Moohan aims for mixed reality use cases where clarity and app ecosystem matter — enterprise training, XR productivity, and high-end media consumption. Its Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 SoC and 16GB of RAM should deliver solid performance for immersive apps, though final battery life and comfort will shape consumer reception once units ship.
Samsung has not yet confirmed these dates or specs publicly. Expect official details at the October 21 event and subsequent hands-on reviews to clarify real-world performance and value against the Vision Pro and Quest 3.
