Amazon Reveals Echo Dot Max, Echo Studio & New Shows

4 Minutes

Amazon unveiled four new Echo devices today — the Echo Dot Max, Echo Studio and two Echo Show models — all optimized for the company’s new Alexa+ experience. The lineup introduces updated acoustics, improved on-device AI and a refreshed design aimed at delivering richer sound and smarter interactions.

What’s new in the Echo family

The new range includes the Echo Dot Max, a larger Echo Studio, and two Echo Show screens in 8-inch and 11-inch sizes. Amazon is shipping these devices with Alexa+ Early Access in the US, and all four are available to pre-order now. Pricing starts at $100 for the Echo Dot Max, $220 for the Echo Studio, $180 for the Echo Show 8, and $220 for the Echo Show 11. The Dot Max and Studio arrive October 29, while the Show models hit shelves November 12.

Major audio upgrades and flexible multi-room setups

The Echo Dot Max adopts a dual-driver layout with an integrated woofer and tweeter built directly into the housing. By removing a separate speaker module, Amazon claims the redesign doubles internal air volume for fuller, punchier sound and achieves up to three times the bass of the 5th-gen Echo Dot. The Echo Studio expands on that concept: it packs a high-excursion woofer plus three full-range drivers, adds spatial audio and Dolby Atmos support, but fits in an enclosure that’s about 40% smaller than the original Studio.

Both the Dot Max and the upgraded Studio support stereo pairing and surround setups. Amazon says you can chain up to five compatible Echo speakers with Fire TV sticks to create a makeshift surround system or multi-room listening arrangement, making it easier to build a budget home theater without replacing existing equipment.

New Echo Show screens, cameras and front-facing sound

The Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 11 use in-cell touch panels and a negative liquid crystal design to reduce lamination layers and widen viewing angles. Each model includes a 13MP camera capable of video calls and user recognition, so Alexa can display personalized information when you approach the display. Audio is also reworked: both Show devices feature a front-facing stereo speaker setup with a dedicated custom woofer situated under the display to deliver sound directly toward the user.

Faster on-device AI with custom AZ3 chips

Under the hood, Amazon introduced new silicon with AI accelerators. The Echo Dot Max runs on the AZ3 chip while the Echo Studio and both Echo Show models use the higher-spec AZ3 Pro. According to Amazon, these chips improve microphone performance, cut response latency and boost local AI processing — benefits that should make Alexa interactions quicker and more reliable.

Conclusion

Amazon’s latest Echo refresh focuses on clearer, deeper sound and smarter on-device intelligence. With improved drivers, spatial audio support, enhanced displays and custom AI chips, the new Echo Dot Max, Echo Studio and Echo Show models aim to upgrade both audio quality and everyday convenience for smart-home users. Pre-orders are open now for US customers who will get Alexa+ Early Access with their purchases.
