Nothing Phones Gain One-Tap Call Recording in 8 Markets

Nothing has quietly added an audio call recording feature to its Essential Space platform, letting owners of recent Nothing phones capture calls with a single action. The change arrives as a server-side update, so some users may see it appear without any manual download.

One-tap recording: what changed

The new option allows eligible Nothing smartphones to start recording an ongoing audio call either by long-pressing the Essential Key or by tapping a “Start recording” action that appears in the call notification. Once the call ends, the file is saved directly into Essential Space for easy access and management.

How to start and find recordings

  • Long-press the Essential Key during a call to begin recording.
  • Tap the “Start recording” button in the in-call notification when it appears.
  • Recordings are automatically stored in Essential Space after the call ends.

Because this rollout appears to be server-driven, Nothing says users won’t need to install an update manually—your phone should gain the feature once the company activates it for your account or region.

Which models and where it’s available

For now, the feature is limited to three models: Nothing Phone (3), Nothing Phone (3a), and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. The initial country list includes India, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, the UK, and South Korea. Nothing has indicated the capability will reach additional markets in the near future.

Privacy and legal notes

Call recording laws vary by country and even by state. Before using this tool, make sure you comply with local regulations and inform call participants when required. Nothing’s implementation makes recording easy, but legal responsibility remains with the user.

If you own one of the supported devices and don't see the option yet, check Essential Space after a while—the feature is rolling out gradually and may take time to appear for every account.
