Honor has taken the wraps off its latest flagships in China: the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro. Both phones bring a mix of high-end hardware and new AI-focused features — most notably a customizable AI button and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
AI at your fingertips: the new AI button and Yoyo assistant
One standout on both models is a dedicated AI button that launches the Yoyo assistant with a long press and can be programmed for other shortcuts. It’s a move that signals Honor’s push to make generative and assistant-driven workflows quicker and more tactile — imagine launching context-aware help or snapping an AI-enhanced photo with a single press.

Top-tier chipset and software
Under the hood, both the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and ship with MagicOS 10. That combination promises improved performance, better power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI capabilities compared with previous generations — useful for everything from advanced image processing to faster multitasking.
Cameras and imaging: Pro goes big
The Magic8 Pro leans into flagship imaging. Its triple rear array includes a 200MP telephoto module using a 1/1.4-inch sensor with f/2.6 optics, 3.7x optical zoom and OIS. The primary sensor is 50MP (1/1.3-inch, f/1.6) with OIS, joined by a 50MP ultrawide with a 122° field of view. For selfies and secure face unlock, the Pro packs a 50MP front camera plus a 3D depth camera. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner handles in-display biometrics.

The standard Magic8 opts for a different camera mix: a 50MP primary sensor (1/1.56-inch) with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 64MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Selfies use a 50MP front sensor, but the Magic8 drops the 3D depth camera while keeping an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.
Displays, batteries and charging
Both phones feature high-quality OLED LTPO displays with 120Hz refresh rates. The Magic8 Pro has a 6.71-inch panel offering a 1256 x 2808 resolution and a very bright peak brightness (Honor rates it up to 6,000 nits). The Magic8 keeps things slightly more compact with a 6.58-inch screen that otherwise shares similar specs.

Battery capacity differs by region and model. In China the Magic8 Pro houses a massive 7,200mAh Si-C battery; the EU will get a smaller 6,270mAh cell. The Magic8 itself packs a 7,000mAh battery. Fast charging is generous: up to 100W wired and 80W wireless for the Pro (regional variations apply), and 90W wired with 80W wireless for the standard Magic8.
Durability, dimensions and color options
The Magic8 Pro carries robust ingress protection with IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings, measures 8.4mm thick and weighs 213g. Both phones are offered in Sunrise Gold, Sky Cyan and Black finishes.

Pricing and availability
Honor has opened pre-orders in China with sales starting October 23. Pricing in CNY for the Magic8 starts at 4,499 for the 12GB/256GB model, rising to 4,799 (12GB/512GB), 4,999 (16GB/512GB) and 5,499 (16GB/1TB). The Magic8 Pro begins at 5,699 (12GB/256GB) and scales up to 6,699 for the 16GB/1TB option. Honor confirmed the Magic8 series will reach global markets soon; we’ll update readers once international launch dates and regional pricing are announced.
Should you care?
If you prioritize flagship imaging, long battery life and on-device AI tools, Honor’s new Magic8 lineup is worth watching. The AI button and Yoyo assistant hint at a future where phones are more proactive helpers — and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 ensures the hardware can keep pace.
