Xiaomi has started rolling out the September 2025 security update for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra in India. The release focuses on system security and stability and appears to be the final maintenance update before the bigger HyperOS 3 upgrade arrives.
Two models, two packages: what’s in the update
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is receiving firmware version 2.0.206.0VOAINXM, a roughly 1.0GB download. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra gets a smaller build, 2.0.204.0.VNAINXM, sized at about 113MB. Both packages include the Android security patch for September 2025 and general system hardening.
Why sizes differ
Large differences in download size are common when one update includes larger system-level changes or preparatory files for a forthcoming OS upgrade. In this case, the larger 15 Ultra package looks like it’s preparing the device for HyperOS 3, while the 14 Ultra receives a lighter stability and security tune-up.
HyperOS 3: performance gains and what to expect
HyperOS 3 — Xiaomi’s Android 16-based update — is billed as a performance and visual refresh. According to Xiaomi’s roadmap, the global Xiaomi 15 series should get HyperOS 3 between October and November 2025, and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is scheduled to follow between November and December 2025.

HyperOS 3 also introduces a hot-swappable scheduling mechanism and a new graphics scheduling link aimed at boosting gaming performance. Xiaomi says it has optimized more than 100 system animations to make the UI feel smoother and more responsive.
New visuals and AI features that stand out
Beyond raw performance, HyperOS 3 brings visible changes to the user experience. A new feature called Xiaomi Super Island acts as a live activity and notification hub, integrating more than 70 services for quick access. Visual updates include AI-driven dynamic wallpapers with depth effects, refreshed icons, and adjustable desktop grids.

The Photo Album gets smarter too: upgraded search capabilities and automatic Pet Albums make it easier to find and organize memories. A cinematic lock screen editor lets users customize lock screens and wallpapers with a single interface — handy for fans of personalized home screens.
Smarter assistance on-screen
AI enhancements arrive with the Super XiaoAi Assistant, which can interpret on-screen content and offer contextual answers. A new gesture lets you circle any area on the screen to trigger actions like search, translation, or sharing — a feature conceptually similar to Google’s Circle to Search but integrated into Xiaomi’s assistant.
If you own a Xiaomi 15 Ultra or 14 Ultra in India, check the system updater for the September security patch and back up your data before installing. For everyone else, HyperOS 3’s wider rollout should arrive in the coming weeks for eligible devices, bringing both performance gains and a host of AI-driven conveniences.
