Oppo's Reno16 Line Drops 200MP Cameras — Prices Revealed

Think you've seen every camera trick in a smartphone? Oppo just nudged the bar again. Two new Reno16 models have arrived in China, and they both lean hard into megapixels and power—albeit in different sizes.

Both the Reno16 Pro and the standard Reno16 ship with a 200MP primary sensor inside a triple-camera array. That's paired with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with optical image stabilization and a 50MP ultrawide that opens up a 116-degree field of view. Selfies aren't an afterthought either: each phone carries a 50MP front camera for crisp video calls and portraits.

But the similarities stop at photography. The Reno16 Pro stretches to a 6.78-inch AMOLED display driven by MediaTek's Dimensity 9500s, while the smaller Reno16 opts for a 6.32-inch OLED panel and runs on the Dimensity 8550 Super. Both panels support up to a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution, boast high peak brightness (up to 3,600 nits) and use high-frequency PWM dimming—plus they hide fingerprint sensors under the glass.

Battery life takes center stage in the Pro: a hefty 7,000mAh cell that accepts 80W wired charging and 50W wireless. The standard Reno16 keeps the wired speed at 80W but trims capacity to 6,700mAh and forgoes wireless charge. So choose your trade-off: longer endurance and wireless convenience, or a smaller frame and similar charging speed.

Connectivity mirrors that design split. Both phones run ColorOS 16 and include dual-SIM 5G, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and an IR blaster, plus an uncommon IP69K rating for dust and water resistance. The Pro steps up to Wi‑Fi 7; the regular Reno16 is capped at Wi‑Fi 6.

Oppo also leaned into looks. The Reno16 Pro ships in Dreamy Blue, Heart‑Fluttering Stars and Moonlit Night Black, while the Reno16 is offered in Galaxy Purple, Heart‑Fluttering Stars and Moonlit Night Black. Pre-orders are open now ahead of sales starting May 29.

As for price, Oppo is pitching the Reno16 Pro at CNY 4,499 (about $660) for the 12GB/256GB model, rising to CNY 4,899 ($720) for 12GB/512GB and CNY 5,299 ($780) for 16GB/512GB. The Reno16 begins at CNY 3,499 ($515) for 12GB/256GB, with multiple memory and storage combos topping out at CNY 4,899 ($720) for the 16GB/1TB model.

There’s a familiar rhythm here: flagship-level imaging and battery tech bundled into a pair of phones that let buyers decide which compromises matter most. Want sheer endurance and Wi‑Fi 7? The Pro is obvious. Prefer a more compact handset with the same megapixel spectacle? The Reno16 waits.

Either way, Oppo has doubled down on photography and endurance—so the next time someone tells you pixels don't matter, you can show them this lineup and ask a simple question: how much resolution is enough?
