Skoda starts series production of its new flagship EV

Skoda has begun series production of the Peaq, its largest, most advanced and most expensive battery-electric vehicle to date. Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform in Mlada Boleslav alongside the Enyaq and Elroq, the Peaq brings the 2022 Vision 7S concept to the road with a strong focus on space, technology and everyday practicality.

Design and interior: Modern Solid made practical

The Peaq carries Skoda’s Modern Solid design language with a clean, sculpted exterior, T-shaped daytime running lights and an illuminated Tech-Deck fascia. Buyers can choose five- or seven-seat layouts, making the model a true family crossover aimed at customers who need room without sacrificing modern styling.

Cargo capacity is a highlight:

  • Up to 935 liters (33 cu ft) with five seats in place
  • A cavernous 2,075 liters (73.3 cu ft) with rear rows folded flat

Inside, Skoda emphasizes usability: a 13.6-inch infotainment screen with a smartphone-inspired interface, three-zone automatic climate control, a heat pump for efficient cabin heating, and an extensive suite of driver-assistance systems. Higher trims add Matrix LED headlights, premium upholstery and other luxury options.

Powertrains, range and charging

The Peaq launches with three MEB-based powertrain options, offered in rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive form. - Peaq 60: single rear motor producing 150 kW (204 hp) with a WLTP range up to 456 km (283 mi) - Peaq 90: single rear motor rated at 210 kW (286 hp) with a WLTP range up to 644 km (400 mi) - Peaq 90x: dual-motor AWD delivering 220 kW (about 300 hp) and up to 611 km (380 mi)

Although the Peaq uses a 400-volt electrical architecture, the larger battery can accept up to 199 kW on DC fast charging, which is competitive for the segment and helps cut long-distance charging stops.

Skoda also promotes bidirectional charging capabilities, enabling vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) use cases—letting the Peaq act as an energy source for tools, homes or even feed power back into the grid where supported.

Brakes, safety and trim choices

All Peaq variants are based on the MEB architecture and, in line with some MEB models, use drum brakes at the rear. Safety and convenience features can be optioned up with packages for advanced parking assistance, a head-up display and massaging seats.

Trim levels include an entry-grade called Selection in Skoda’s online configurator and a Sportline specification that brings gloss-black trim, sport seats, 20-inch wheels and a contrasting black roof for a more athletic look.

Market positioning and rival comparison

Priced from CZK 1,150,000 (roughly $54,720) in the Czech Republic for the base Peaq 60, Skoda positions the Peaq as a European-focused flagship that complements the smaller Enyaq and Elroq. It’s intended to help double Skoda’s electric portfolio alongside the Epiq and to compete with larger three-row EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Peugeot e-5008.

"Peaq" was chosen to convey peak spaciousness and comfort, and the model underscores Skoda’s long-standing value proposition: Volkswagen Group engineering married to thoughtful, practical packaging.

Highlights:

  • Flagship three-row EV on MEB platform
  • Up to 644 km WLTP range in Peaq 90 spec
  • Bidirectional charging (V2L, V2H, V2G) and up to 199 kW DC charging
  • Built in Mlada Boleslav alongside Enyaq and Elroq

For buyers seeking a roomy, tech-forward European three-row electric SUV, the Peaq offers a compelling mix of range, interior space and utility. As dealers begin to receive stock across Europe, the Peaq will be a model to watch as Skoda targets families and EV buyers who prize functionality as much as style.
