Alpina has filed a trademark for the XB6 nameplate, and a recent CGI by Instagram account @ap.studio.974 imagines how an Alpina version of the next BMW X6 might look. The filing signals interest but does not confirm a production model.
Trademark filing and model context
Alpina remains active within the BMW Group and has several projects in the pipeline, including the Vision BMW Alpina Coupe and a new B7 anticipated in late 2026 or early 2027. The XB7 is set to be renewed on the next-generation X7, a program that will not fully follow the Neue Klasse architecture. Alpina has now filed to protect the XB6 nameplate, which suggests the possibility of an Alpina X6 in the future but does not guarantee one.
The current, third-generation BMW X6 recently passed its seventh birthday; the Life Cycle Impulse for that generation arrived for the 2024 model year. Reports indicate the X6’s successor could arrive in roughly a year and is expected to be the coupe-bodied counterpart to the all-new X5, described as the G65 (G78 LWB) Neue Klasse model. Early renderings and artist impressions already show a vizor-like front fascia and similar taillight treatment to the modern X5, with a sloping roofline and a distinct tailgate.

Details from the CGI by @ap.studio.974
A recent CGI posted on Instagram by @ap.studio.974 applies Alpina styling cues to the anticipated next-generation X6. Notable exterior treatments imagined for an XB6 include illuminated kidney grille elements and slim daytime running lights, Alpina-specific badges and wheels, and a sportier apron and diffuser package.
- Front: slim DRLs flanking an illuminated kidney grille, diagonal slats, large side vents, and a relatively small central intake.
- Profile: coupe silhouette with a sloping roofline, sharp side skirts, and special front-fender trim; the rendering shows traditional door handles.
- Rear: integrated ducktail spoiler, a four-spoke diffuser, a sporty bumper and four tailpipes; the image also retains a BMW roundel on the tailgate.

The CGI substitutes Alpina badges for BMW emblems and uses alloy designs sourced from the Vision BMW Alpina concept. The rendering is an interpretation by a digital artist and not an official Alpina release.
Powertrain possibilities and market positioning
The depiction of four exhaust outlets in the CGI implies a potent engine, and the likeliest candidate is BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Manufacturer commentary and industry reporting indicate the forthcoming X6 M and X5 M will use an electrified version of that V8. For reference, the electrified V8 in the M5 models is rated at 717 hp (727 ps/535 kW) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) combined, paired with a 14.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and xDrive all-wheel drive.

Alpina’s production intent and final power outputs for any XB6 remain unknown. It is plausible Alpina would position an XB6 below or alongside the X6 M to avoid direct overlap, and trademark filings are a common step that do not always lead to production.
