The 2027 Honda Civic Type R arrives in the U.S. with an MSRP of $48,695 and retains its 315 horsepower output.
Honda has applied a long-awaited mid-cycle refresh to the Civic Type R for the 2027 model year, introducing sharper exterior and interior details, targeted cooling and aero changes, and expanded electronics. The company says the refreshed model honors the Type R’s 30-year legacy while keeping the core driving characteristics intact; American Honda confirms the updated car starts arriving at dealerships this month.

"The legendary Civic Type R has embodied the Honda challenging spirit for three decades, leveraging our deep roots in motorsports with racetrack-proven engineering that maximizes performance without sacrificing Type R's civilized road manners," said Luis Guerra, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The refreshed 2027 Civic Type R honors that legacy by enhancing comfort, technology and style without compromising the exhilarating driving experience that has defined the Civic Type R for six generations."

Updates and features
The Type R keeps its 315 horsepower rating but receives a redesigned front fascia that Honda says improves engine cooling. Exterior changes include a deeper front splitter intended to increase downforce, a revised engine cover design and the addition of a new exterior color, Meteorite Gray Metallic. On the chassis side, Honda reports optimized suspension damping specifically for +R mode, an improved Rev Match system and changes to deliver a more direct brake feel.

Inside, the 2027 Type R adds standard heated front seats, a new perforation pattern for the front seats and Ultrasuede on the instrument panel and upper front door panels. Trim and switchgear are darker, with black climate-control and air-vent knobs among the visual changes.
Technology and safety upgrades expand the car’s connectivity and driver aids. The Type R now includes Google built-in with Google Gemini, Alexa built-in, two USB-C ports and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Safety additions include a Post-Collision Braking System (PCB) and expanded Honda Sensing features. American Honda describes the Civic Type R as "America's best-selling hot hatch and the only car in its class available exclusively with a manual transmission."

The refreshed 2027 Civic Type R starts at $48,695 (excluding destination), a modest increase from last year’s $47,395 starting price.
The refresh arrives as American Honda reports strong recent retail performance: September 2026 sales rose almost 16 percent to 121,796 units, the company’s best September since 2020, and third-quarter deliveries climbed more than nine percent to 392,341 units, the best Q3 since 2019. Through nine months, American Honda’s total stands at 1,149,261 vehicles, an increase of almost five percent year-to-date.

Within the Honda brand, September volume was 111,661 units (+17.7%), with Q3 deliveries of 358,388 (+9.3%) and year-to-date totals of 1,045,593 (+4.7%). Top sellers for the first nine months were the Civic with about 195,000 units (+5.4%), the Accord near 145,000 (+32.7%), the CR-V at roughly 337,000 (+9.5%) and the Passport at about 47,000 units (+more than 14%). Honda also recently announced pricing for the refreshed 2027 Passport TrailSport, which is arriving at dealerships now.
