Altcoin Price Surge: Is the Altseason Finally Starting?

Altcoin rally sweeps the crypto market

The crypto market experienced one of the strongest short-term rallies in recent memory as Bitcoin climbed past $77,000 and many large-cap altcoins posted double-digit gains. The rapid uplift has reignited discussion about whether a sustained altseason — a period when altcoins significantly outperform Bitcoin — is unfolding.

Notable gainers and market movers

Several altcoins led the charge during the 24-hour surge. Zcash (ZEC) jumped more than 47% at its peak, briefly reaching $827 and remaining roughly 35% above prior levels even after a partial pullback. Bitcoin Cash gained over 31%, while Canton rose approximately 20%.

Other major movers included Cardano (about 19%), Dogecoin and WhiteBIT Coin (around 17.7%), and Stellar (over 16%). Chainlink climbed roughly 13.3% and Hyperliquid rose close to 12%. XRP advanced near 14%, with Solana and BNB also trading in positive territory. Such breadth across tokens suggests a broad-based risk-on shift in crypto sentiment.

Liquidity changes behind the rally

Analysts point to a shift in U.S. Treasury policy as a key catalyst. The Treasury increased the cap on long-term bond buybacks from $2 billion to $4 billion per operation — a move that could ease pressure in the bond market and inject additional liquidity into the financial system. More liquidity typically flows into risk assets, and digital assets have historically responded to such conditions.

Bernstein strategist Gautam Chougani noted that Bitcoin has tended to rally when liquidity expands, and that renewed cash flows can create favorable conditions for altcoins once BTC shows strength.

Is altseason here to stay?

While the simultaneous rise of Bitcoin, Ethereum and a wide range of altcoins is encouraging, a single 24-hour spike is not conclusive evidence that altseason has begun. For a durable altcoin bull run, markets need continuous liquidity inflows, sustained Bitcoin momentum, and improving on-chain fundamentals. Traders and investors should watch volume, capital flows, and macro policy developments to gauge whether this rally evolves into a prolonged altseason.
