Porcelain for the palm. Hours before the formal unveiling, Xiaomi's Lu Weibing casually lifted the curtain on a Ceramic Special Edition of the 18 Fold — finished in a soft, almost pastel pink, with each unit reportedly carrying a slightly different hue.
There are no gaudy accents. No extra bling. The Ceramic Special Edition keeps the same minimalist geometry as the standard model: an ultra-narrow four-sided equal-bezel layout, big super-elliptical rounded corners, a racetrack-style Deco camera module on the back, and a completely flat wraparound frame that favors understatement over flash. Standard finishes remain Warm Gold White, Black, and Western Red, so this pink variant clearly aims at a different, more fashion-forward buyer.

What Xiaomi calls a new "mid-fold" form factor brings two paper-like screens into play: a 5.38-inch outer display and a 7.58-inch inner panel, both using a √2:1 aspect ratio and protected by double-layer UTG ultra-thin glass. Performance is front-and-center too. The in-house Xring O3 flagship chip has already posted an AnTuTu score north of 5.22 million, and Xiaomi is among the first to ship Changxin LPDDR6 memory with bandwidth approaching 114 GB/s. Yes, the numbers matter. But the feel does as well.

Leica branding remains on the camera stack. The setup pairs a 200MP main sensor (1/1.56"), a 50MP periscope telephoto with roughly 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide unit. Xiaomi is leaning into novel shooting modes: use the closed device like a classic point-and-shoot with a large 4:3 viewfinder, get a real-time HD preview on the outer screen when unfolded, or move directly into a post-production workflow thanks to advanced software tools and high-res captures.

Battery capacity sits at 6000mAh with a claimed 20% silicon content in the cell chemistry and an energy density of about 920 Wh/L. Charging supports 67W wired and 50W wireless speeds. In short: a big cell, reasonably fast top-ups, and a hardware stack that reads like a premium spec sheet.
Expect a price above 10,000 yuan — Xiaomi is clearly positioning this as a luxury foldable rather than a mass-market flagship.
Details are still falling into place, and the formal launch was scheduled for later the same day at 7:00 PM China time. Whether buyers will pay a luxury premium for ceramic aesthetics and a unique color finish remains to be seen, but Xiaomi has once again shown it can mix design theater with serious hardware chops.
