Renderings posted by AutoYa on YouTube sketch a mid cycle refresh for the fifth generation Lexus RX, and they show a number of visible changes expected for the 2027 model year. The images and short CGI video are not official product releases, so the details should be treated as speculative, but they give a clear picture of the directions Lexus might take with the crossover's exterior and cabin.

The most obvious revision is at the front, where the spindle grille is reworked. It is not dramatically smaller but is interrupted in the centre of the bumper by a broad horizontal slat that houses the license plate. The side vents are larger and take on a triangular motif. Lexus has moved the badge higher on the nose, positioning it between slightly revised headlights, and a discreet splitter appears integrated into the lower bumper. Overall the renderings present a pointier front end compared with the current model.

From the profile the RX remains largely unchanged apart from new wheel designs. At the rear the artist imagined new taillight graphics, a reshaped bumper with a more aggressive character and a sportier diffuser. The Lexus emblem still sits above a continuous light strip on the tailgate, while the license plate recess is made more pronounced in these designs.

The AutoYa package also extends to the cabin. The dashboard panel is remodeled and the renderings show a new infotainment screen and an updated digital instrument cluster. Other interior changes include a revised gear selector, reorganized switchgear, different air vents, a new steering wheel bearing the Lexus logo, new seat patterns and an expanded palette of trim colours. Again, these are artist impressions rather than factory images.

Range topping RX Morizo RR: a sporty halo in the renderings

The renderings also imagine a high performance variant badged RX Morizo RR, a name that has been associated with prototype test mules and recent spy shots but has not been confirmed by Lexus. In the images the Morizo RR features much more aggressive exterior treatment, including unique front and rear bumpers, sharper side skirts and dedicated wheels. The car sits lower, with retuned suspension and uprated brakes to match the added performance in the artist's vision.

Rumours circulated alongside the renderings suggest the Morizo RR could use a new 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo engine working with two electric motors to produce roughly 600 horsepower combined. That figure remains unconfirmed and would still fall short of the peak outputs offered by V8 powered rivals such as the BMW X5 M, but the Morizo RR may offer a different balance of performance and cost that could attract buyers.

AutoYa's video and screenshots are the origin of these particular visuals, and they should be read as one interpretation rather than a faithful preview of production details. What the renderings do underline is that Lexus is prepared to evolve the RX's styling and to explore a high performance halo for the line.

Industry chatter places the refreshed RX on track for the 2027 model year, which suggests a reveal in the months ahead and dealer arrival under that model year label. The high performance RX Morizo RR, if it proceeds, is rumoured to follow for the 2028 model year.
