According to leakster Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi’s planned 18 Ultra appears to have been canceled. The claim follows Xiaomi’s announcement that the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will see a global launch, a contrast with the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max which remained China-only.
The leakster says Xiaomi shelved the Ultra because the suggested starting price—CNY 10,000 for a 12/256GB unit—would have been too high to drive sufficient sales. The report included the conversions $1,500 / £1125 / €1,330 / ₹143,500 alongside the CNY figure.
That would represent a notable jump from the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which was CNY 7,000 for a 12/512GB unit, and from the 17 Ultra Leica Edition at CNY 8,000 for a 16/512GB unit.
Digital Chat Station’s post described a camera suite that, if accurate, would have been unusually ambitious: a 200MP 1/1.12" LOFIC main sensor, a 200MP 1/1.28" LOFIC periscope with a continuous zoom lens, and a 200MP 1/1.56" ultra-wide camera. Sensor size notation such as 1/1.12" refers to the relative physical size of each image sensor; larger fractions indicate larger sensors.
The leaked specification list also included a flagship chipset, a flat display with even 1mm bezels, and symmetric stereo speakers. The report suggested most of the device’s cost would have gone into the camera hardware, especially given the base RAM and storage configuration called out in the leak.
For what it’s worth, the original DCS post now appears inaccessible, so it is not clear whether the leakster still stands by the details. The report noted that price sensitivity would have been an issue for sales, and added that official pricing for competitor models such as the vivo X500 Ultra and Oppo Find X10 Ultra is not yet known, leaving open the question whether a CNY 10,000 price point might become more common for camera-focused Ultra flagships.
