Angelli Automobili has unveiled the Tipo 829, a new Italian supercar inspired by the Lancia Stratos HF and offered in three distinct, purpose-built versions. The car follows seven years of development and takes its model number from the project code 829, a reference to the 1970s programme that produced the original Stratos.
The Tipo 829 is built on a single shared chassis and platform, but Angelli’s engineers deliberately developed three fully differentiated variants rather than a base car with an extensive options list. At the centre of every Tipo 829 is a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine that Angelli says is capable of producing roughly 500 horsepower. That engine acts as the common mechanical core, while engine management, power delivery and tuning are adjusted to suit each variant’s character and intended use. The company describes the engineering approach as project-driven and limited in scale, aiming to convey the feel of a hand-built, bespoke supercar.

Tra, Strada and Pista: distinct identities
The Tra is the most rally-oriented member of the family, developed with rally stages and hillclimbs in mind. Angelli emphasises mechanical grip, traction and robust performance on uneven surfaces rather than publishing isolated engineering figures; the Tra’s setup follows a rugged, mechanically focused philosophy that intends to differentiate it from taller, air-sprung high-riding supercars.

By contrast, the Strada is what Davide Angelli describes as the closest interpretation of a classic Italian grand tourer. It is tuned for everyday and long-distance road use, prioritising a balance between long‑distance comfort and agility on twisty asphalt roads. The Strada is presented as the most road-friendly of the three, with calibrations aimed at refined, usable sport driving.

The Pista is the track specialist, with Angelli targeting higher peak power, a more aggressive throttle response and sharper steering calibration for lap-focused performance. Detailed technical figures for the Pista, including exact power numbers, weight and aerodynamic specifications, have not been fully disclosed, but the company makes clear this is a purpose-built circuit variant.

Angelli says the goal is for Tra, Strada and Pista to feel like three different cars in use, not merely different trims, and that production will be very limited with extensive personalization so each variant stands as an independent model.

Angelli has positioned the Tipo 829 as a specialist, limited-production project rather than a mass-market model, with bespoke engineering and a high degree of customization available to buyers.
