Apple is lining up developer support ahead of the iPhone Duo launch, inviting app makers to prepare their software before pre-orders open on October 16 and deliveries begin on October 23. The company published guidance to help ensure a smooth debut for the new device.
Apple says apps must be based on the new Xcode 27.1, which it has already released and made available to download. Developers can submit apps and games through App Store Connect; when an app is built or recompiled with Xcode 27.1, the App Store will display a badge indicating that the app is optimized for iPhone Duo.
Developer resources and new submission rules
Alongside technical recommendations, Apple is offering in-person iPhone Duo workshops to assist developers, and developers may sign up to attend. The company also introduced a new requirement that every new app include a screenshot of the app running on an iPhone Duo starting April 2027.
