Euro NCAP awarded the redesigned 2027 Audi Q7 five stars and gave it 100 percent for essential driving controls under its 2026 testing protocols.
Redesigned on the Premium Platform Combustion and produced in Slovakia, the third-generation Q7 was tested in left-hand-drive TDI 220 kW guise. Audi lists a 180 kW diesel as an alternative; converted to imperial units these are 295 and 241 mechanical horsepower.
Euro NCAP rated the Q7 100 percent for essential driving tasks and 80 percent for comfort and infotainment controls, yielding a 90 percent overall score for the use of buttons and switches under the 2026 protocols.

Tested items included indicators, the hazard light button, windshield wipers and washer, the horn and the eCall button. Euro NCAP said these controls are easy to see, well placed and usable without distraction and added that the protocols do not ban touch controls but reward physical layouts that support ease of use and muscle memory.
The Q7 scored 72 percent for safe driving, 77 percent for crash avoidance, 88 percent for protection and 100 percent for post-crash safety.

Euro NCAP flagged the lack of child presence detection as standard and noted the vehicle does not recognise occupants sitting out of position. The organisation said a front passenger could put their feet on the dashboard without the Q7 issuing an alert about the increased risk from airbag deployment.
Speed assistance was tested over about 2,000 kilometres (1,243 miles); the Q7 identified posted speed limits correctly in 87 percent of cases, Euro NCAP reported.
The SUV performed well in side pole and barrier impacts; its centre airbag prevented front occupants from striking each other. Dooring performance was also judged good. Low-speed collision performance scored 68 percent, with mixed results in pedestrian and cyclist crossing and manoeuvring tests, and Euro NCAP highlighted gaps in cyclist head protection.

Post-crash safety earned a full score for rescue information, eCall functionality and provisions to help emergency crews extract occupants safely. Euro NCAP noted that in certain situations eCall transmits occupant and impact data to responders.
Euro NCAP also reminded that achieving five stars does not require full marks across every tested category.
