The 2027 Kia Sorento HEV arrives in the United States with a manufacturer list price of $39,090 for the base Sorento HEV EX with front-wheel drive, a figure that positions the hybrid below rivals such as the Honda Pilot and Mazda CX-90 in sticker price while remaining pricier than its corporate cousin, the Hyundai Santa Fe.

Pricing and trims

Kia’s online configurator shows the Sorento HEV EX FWD at $39,090 as the entry point. The configurator also lists a Sorento HEV X-Line EX at $43,090; Kia’s material notes that adding all-wheel drive to the base HEV carries an $1,800 charge, a detail that appears alongside the distinct X-Line pricing in the configurator. The X-Line EX is offered only with all-wheel drive and brings exterior blackout elements, gloss-black wheels, and premium machined wood inlays inside the cabin.

Standard equipment on the base EX includes an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, a six-speaker audio system, a seven-seat layout, and a Smart Power Liftgate. The X-Line EX adds a panoramic sunroof, SynTex upholstery, second-row captain’s chairs, and an optional Bose Premium Audio upgrade.

At the top of the HEV range, the Sorento HEV X-Line SX-Prestige starts at $47,590. That range-topping trim adds a 360-degree surround view monitor, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, a 14-way power driver seat with memory plus four-way lumbar and two-way power thigh extension, aluminum sport pedals, leather upholstery, a heated second row, and a standard head-up display that is not available on the lower EX or X-Line EX trims.

Cosmetic changes across the lineup include the HEV badging on the tailgate and the replacement of the former Steel Gray paint with a new Pale Gray that Kia lists at no extra cost; optional Premium Paint choices are priced at $495.

Powertrain and performance

The Sorento HEV retains the previously announced hybrid drivetrain that pairs a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four with direct injection to a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. Kia states the combined output at 227 horsepower (230 metric horsepower) and 258 pound-feet of torque (350 Newton meters). Kia’s published acceleration figure for the front-wheel-drive entry HEV is 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 7.2 seconds; heavier all-wheel-drive variants are listed as taking roughly half a second longer. Top speed is electronically limited to 120 mph (193 kph).

Kia continues to offer two other Sorento powertrain options in the U.S. market. The gasoline-only base Sorento uses a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 191 horsepower (194 metric horsepower) and starts at $32,590. The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid pairs the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with an electric drive to deliver 261 horsepower (268 metric horsepower) and carries a $48,290 starting price.
