Weekend crypto sell-off hits Bitcoin and altcoins
Bitcoin (BTC) pulled back after failing to sustain a move above the $85,000 range, retreating to roughly $80,400 — the lowest level in about 10 days. The brief rebound earlier in the week gave way to renewed selling pressure, pushing BTC toward the $80K threshold. Over the last 24 hours Bitcoin is down around 1%, with a market cap near $1.62 trillion and a coinmarketcap-listed dominance of about 60% of the total crypto market.
Bitcoin nears the $80K mark
The intraday decline accelerated after price rejection near $85,000, first dropping below $83,000 before extending losses into Friday and Saturday. Although BTC remains above the $80,000 psychological level, traders are watching volatility and liquidity as futures and spot flows shape near-term direction for the flagship crypto.

Altcoins under pressure, a few exceptions
The broader altcoin market echoed Bitcoin's weakness, resulting in a general red session across major tokens. Ethereum (ETH) fell in step with BTC and traded noticeably below $2,400. XRP slipped more than 2% and sank under the $1.30 support level, signaling short-term bearish momentum.
Notable movers: SOL, ZEC, and more
Solana edged toward the $100 area, while Zcash fell below $1,200. Other coins such as Monero, Stellar, Chainlink, Litecoin and NERV experienced declines as traders rotated out of risk-on positions. Worldcoin registered a double-digit drop, contrasting with token M, which bucked the trend and rose roughly 10% amid isolated buying interest.
Market cap and outlook
The total crypto market capitalization declined more than 1% on the day to around $2.7 trillion. As volatility persists, market participants will track on-chain metrics, order book depth and macro catalysts to assess whether this pullback becomes a deeper correction or a short-lived consolidation ahead of renewed upside for BTC and major altcoins.
