Chevrolet has unveiled the 2027 Silverado PPV, a pursuit-focused pickup intended for law enforcement fleets and outfitted with heavy-duty components and a 5.3-liter V8 powertrain.
Purpose-built for patrol and pursuit
The Silverado PPV is based on Chevrolet's proven pickup platform and receives an updated front appearance and a reinforced cabin to accommodate heavy radio equipment and large duty belts. The model is engineered to help officers clear urban obstacles and carry hundreds of kilograms of tactical gear while meeting the durability expectations of police fleets, Chevrolet said.
- 5.3-liter V8 rated at 355 horsepower
- 10-speed automatic heavy-duty transmission
- High-capacity alternator for continuous emergency-power demands
- Durable steel wheels and standard locking rear differential
- 16-inch Brembo brake discs

Powertrain and electrical strategy
Chevrolet is offering the Silverado PPV with an internal-combustion 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower, driven through a 10-speed automatic transmission. The manufacturer emphasizes conventional fueling so highway patrol units avoid long charging stops and can rely on rapid refueling. A strengthened alternator is specified to keep emergency lighting and communications equipment powered during extended shifts, Chevrolet said.
While some competitors are moving toward electrified government fleets, Chevrolet has prioritized an ICE solution for agencies that require continuous range and fast refuel capability.
Police fleet managers have been seeking platforms with established reliability to minimize workshop downtime. After multiple reports of technical defects and mechanical issues affecting Dodge Durango fleets in some departments, Chevrolet's rugged pickup platforms have become one of the primary options for large fleet buyers.
