Korean industry sources say Samsung Display will lead OLED panel supply for the first OLED iPad Air, expected in the first half of 2027.

Apple's latest iPad Pro and iPad mini already use OLED screens. The current 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air still use LCD panels.

The sources place 2027 OLED shipment outlooks at 3 to 4 million Pro units, 4 to 5 million mini units, and 4 to 5 million Air units.

On the supply side, Samsung Display is tipped to supply the mini panels and the bulk of the Air order alongside BOE. Pro panels would continue to come from LG Display and Samsung Display, with LG leading Samsung.

BOE is reportedly competing for one of the two Air sizes, but whether it will secure that business remains unclear.

Apple is expected to keep a clear gap between Pro and cheaper OLED models. The Pro will use tandem OLED and LTPO, while the mini and Air are set to use single-stack OLED with LTPS, a cheaper configuration previously suggested.

Shipments and supplier allocations are projections from industry sources and remain subject to change.
