Deep Robotics has unveiled a horse-inspired version of its industrial Lynx M20 Pro that the company says can mimic walking, trotting and even rearing onto its hind legs. The limited-edition model, presented for the Year of the Horse, combines a horse-like body form and gait with industrial robot hardware and is being offered mainly as a demonstration and promotional product.

Design, movement and specifications

In the companys official video the robot moves its legs in a pattern meant to resemble a real horse, and it performs actions such as lifting its forelegs and standing on its hind legs; Deep Robotics notes the appearance remains clearly mechanical, with the resemblance concentrated in body proportions and motion. The special edition adapts the Lynx M20 Pro chassis with a lengthened neck, legs shaped more like horse limbs, and mechanical hooves.

Deep Robotics says the robot weighs about 30 kilograms and stands close to 50 centimetres tall. The company gives a maximum payload of 50 kilograms and a top speed of 5 metres per second, roughly 18 kilometres per hour. For sensing the environment and detecting obstacles the robot uses LiDAR, a laser-based sensor that maps nearby surfaces. The device has a swappable battery that Deep Robotics says supports up to three hours of operation, and the enclosure carries an IP66 rating, which the company describes as protection against dust ingress and heavy water spray.

Deep Robotics positions the horse-shaped Lynx M20 Pro as a limited-edition, demonstration-focused product priced at about $50,000.
