Xiaomi has unveiled the Xiaomi 17, a flagship focused on performance and battery endurance. The handset introduces Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a new 7,000mAh Si/C battery, while also improving display brightness, cameras and charging speeds.
Design and display upgrades
The Xiaomi 17 sports a 6.3-inch M10 LTPO OLED panel with a 1,220 x 2,656 pixel resolution and a variable 1–120Hz refresh rate. Peak local brightness reaches up to 3,500 nits, making the screen well suited for bright outdoor use. Xiaomi has slimmed the bezels to just 1.18mm on every side and protected the front with Dragon Crystal Glass. The panel includes an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and a flat aluminum frame that helps the phone feel compact and premium. The device is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.

Big battery, fast charging
The headline feature is the 7,000mAh Si/C battery, which Xiaomi says contains up to 16% silicon content for improved energy density and longevity. Wired charging tops out at 100W, while wireless charging supports 50W and reverse wireless charging can deliver up to 22.5W — enough to quickly top up earbuds or a smartwatch. This combination aims to give users both long runtime and rapid refueling when needed.
Camera system and imaging
Photography remains a focus: the triple 50MP camera array includes a 23mm-equivalent main shooter using a 1/1.31" Light Hunter 950 sensor, a 17mm-equivalent 50MP ultrawide, and a 60mm-equivalent 50MP telephoto offering 2.6x optical zoom. Selfies are handled by an upgraded 50MP front camera. Together these modules offer versatile framing options and higher detail across focal lengths.

Performance, software and options
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 backed by a large 4,497mm² vapor chamber for improved thermal dissipation. Memory and storage options include 12GB/16GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB of storage. Xiaomi ships the device with HyperOS 3 and a color range that includes black, white, blue and pink.

Availability and pricing
Xiaomi launched the 12/256GB baseline model in China at CNY 4,499 (about $630), a 12/512GB mid-tier at CNY 4,799 (about $672), and a top 16/512GB trim for CNY 4,999 (about $700). Pre-orders are already open in China and shipments are scheduled to begin on September 27.

Conclusion
With the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a huge 7,000mAh Si/C cell, fast wired and wireless charging, and a bright LTPO OLED, the Xiaomi 17 targets users who want flagship performance and exceptional battery life without giving up camera versatility. Its combination of specs makes it one of the most compelling Android flagships of the year.
