Xiaomi's latest wearable, the Redmi Watch 6, arrives with a noticeably slimmer profile, a brighter OLED display and a new programmable shortcut button — all while keeping the same entry price as last year. Available now in China, the Watch 6 aims to deliver meaningful upgrades without breaking the budget.
Slimmer body, sharper screen — looks can be deceiving
At first glance the Redmi Watch 6 keeps the familiar rectangular look and a 2.07" rounded-corner OLED, but the display is much brighter now: peak brightness jumps to 2,000 nits from 1,500 nits on the Watch 5. Thinner bezels and a reduced chassis make the new case measure 46.5 x 40.0 x 9.94mm, a hair under 10mm thick — a notable milestone for comfort on the wrist. Weight stays competitive at about 31g (without strap), down slightly from the previous model.
Design tweaks that matter
- Aluminum alloy unibody with a stainless-steel crown
- New shortcut button with three configurable actions (click, long press, double click)
- Three finish options: Blue, Silver and Black

Under the hood: battery, sensors and connectivity
The Redmi Watch 6 packs the same 550mAh battery as last year but Xiaomi claims up to 24 days with light use, around 12 days if you keep health tracking active, and roughly 7 days with Always-On Display enabled. Of course, enabling more sensors and AOD will shorten actual runtime — something many users will test in real life.
Sensors are comprehensive for the price: heart rate, SpO2, sleep monitoring and 150+ sports modes. Dual L1 GNSS antennas promise more accurate outdoor positioning, and the 5ATM rating means it’s fine for snorkeling and can track heart rate underwater.
Smartwatch features that push past basic tracking
Shipping with HyperOS 3, the Watch 6 supports Bluetooth 5.4 and offers NFC for payments and digital passes, as well as QR-based payment systems. There’s no eSIM option yet, but you can manage quick replies to WeChat and install third-party apps — from Flightradar24 to casual games like 2048 — to extend functionality.

Price and availability: same cost, better package
The Redmi Watch 6 launches in China at CNY 600 (about $85/€75/₹7,500), the same price point as the Watch 5. Xiaomi hasn’t announced a global rollout yet, but given the wide availability of the previous generation, an international release seems likely soon.

So if you’re after a budget-friendly smartwatch with a brighter display, a slimmer fit and an extra customizable button, the Redmi Watch 6 is worth watching.
