Lexus refreshes the IS for 2026, but takes a bolder step
The 2026 Lexus IS has reached the U.S. market with a cleaner, more focused lineup: the entire range is now powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6. The mid-cycle facelift, first shown in Japan last September, brings sharper styling, an upgraded interior and a strategic repositioning that trims lower-cost variants in favor of a stronger standard engine.
What changed in the lineup
Lexus removed the entry-level four-cylinder IS 300 and the IS 300 AWD from the U.S. lineup. That means the IS 350 becomes the new base model. The practical effect is a noticeable increase to the official starting price, moving the base IS into a higher segment in both performance and cost.

Inside, the overhaul feels more substantial. The dashboard and door panels have been redesigned, the center console looks cleaner and a new 12.3-inch touchscreen replaces the older layout. Lexus kept physical HVAC controls and added turbine-style vents inspired by the GR GT supercar, giving the cabin a modern, driver-focused character.

For 2026, every U.S.-spec IS uses the 3.5-liter V6 that produces 314 hp and about 380 Nm of torque. Rear-wheel-drive cars are paired with an 8-speed automatic, while all-wheel-drive models get a 6-speed transmission. Lexus eliminated the turbo four and the IS 500 V8 from the current market, simplifying the range but concentrating on the V6's smooth delivery and higher output.
