Zoom that finally behaves like a real camera? It's closer than you think. A fresh tip on Weibo from leaker Digital Chat Station points to a big step forward for Oppo's telephoto game on the rumored Find X10 Ultra.

The current Find X9 Ultra ships with a 50MP periscope capable of 10x optical zoom, built around a 1/2.75-inch sensor. The new leak claims Oppo plans to keep the same 50MP resolution but swap that sensor for a notably larger 1/1.95-inch unit for the 10x module.

Numbers can be dry. The effect won't be. A move from 1/2.75 to 1/1.95 inches is a material jump in light-gathering surface. More light equals cleaner details, better dynamic range and less aggressive noise reduction when you push to 10x. In short: expect sharper long-range shots and improved low-light telephoto performance.

Interestingly, this upgraded unit will still be the smaller of Oppo's two telephoto sensors, according to the leak. But it will sit much closer in capability to the short-range telephoto than the X9 Ultra's setup did, narrowing the gap between mid- and long-range zoom chains in practical shooting.

Don't expect the Find X10 Ultra to arrive this year—Oppo only launched the X9 Ultra in May—so this is early-stage kit talk rather than a launch sheet. Still, the direction is clear: Oppo appears to be doubling down on optical quality instead of relying solely on computational zoom tricks.

A larger 1/1.95-inch 50MP sensor for 10x zoom should translate into noticeably better telephoto photos. Whether Oppo pairs that hardware with improved stabilization and processing will determine how much of a real-world upgrade users see. Keep an eye on upcoming leaks; this one could reshape expectations for flagship zoom performance.
