Insider posts on Chinese forums—credited to CoolAPK and picked up by Ximitime—pin a tight timeline: a teaser on August 5, a possible beta sign-up going live the same day, a launch event on August 6 and the first wave of beta installs starting as soon as August 7. HyperOS 4 is said to be built on Android 17 and has been expected to roll out broadly later this year; a short, tightly scheduled beta would let Xiaomi gather early feedback fast.

Treat the dates as unconfirmed and likely limited to China at first. Leaks can be accurate, and they can misfire. Until Xiaomi speaks, international users should brace for a delay of a few weeks or more before seeing any public beta invites.

The visuals described in the leak sound ambitious. Think an evolved “Liquid Glass” aesthetic with real-time light-field rendering that gives surfaces a shifting depth, new 2.5D icons that play with shadows and perspective, and system animations that feel less abrupt and more choreographed. Will these changes be purely cosmetic, or will they also improve performance and battery life? That’s the question power users will ask first. Aesthetic polish is welcome.
