Poco M8x Debuts with 7,900mAh Battery and Snapdragon 4

Think of a phone that refuses to die before dinner. Then multiply that stamina by a couple of days. Poco's new M8x is built around endurance — a chunky 7,900mAh battery that aims to rewrite what entry-level longevity looks like.

Performance comes courtesy of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. This is India's first handset to ship with that chip. Small processors can mean big improvements: better power management, smoother UI interactions and respectable efficiency in day-to-day tasks. The M8x pairs the SoC with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage up to 128GB, expandable via microSD for anyone who hoards media and apps.

The display is generous — a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD running at 120Hz. It won't claim flagship-level pixel density, but it will deliver fluid scrolling and a roomy canvas for videos and games. Gorilla Glass 7i adds a layer of toughness and there's a centered punch-hole for an 8MP selfie camera.

Camera basics are straightforward: a 50MP main sensor paired with an auxiliary module and an LED flash. The setup won't topple camera charts, yet it's tuned for everyday photos where clarity and color balance matter more than ultra-fine detail.

Charging is pragmatic. The massive battery supports 45W wired charging for faster top-ups, and the phone offers 22.5W reverse wired charging if you need to loan juice to another device in a pinch. Practical, not flashy.

Software comes as HyperOS 3 on Android 16. Poco promises four generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates — a rare commitment in this segment and one that could tilt value calculations for buyers who keep phones for the long haul.

Other niceties include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, IP64 splash resistance, dual stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio certification and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The M8x ships in Leather Green (vegan leather back on that model), Black and Blue finishes.

Poco has set pricing at INR20,999 for the 4GB/128GB model and INR22,999 for the 6GB/128GB configuration. Sales in India begin August 27 via Flipkart. For buyers who prioritize battery life, software longevity and a large display without flagship taxes, the M8x makes a persuasive case — and then keeps going.
