Huawei’s Watch D3 and FreeBuds Neo: Health Meets Sound

Ever tried to take your blood pressure without the bulky cuff? Huawei wants that to be as casual as checking the time. The company quietly expanded its health-first lineup with the Watch D3, a slimmer follow-up that still shoulders serious medical ambitions, and paired it with a fresh set of earbuds called FreeBuds Neo.

The Watch D3 looks familiar at a glance, but feel the rim and you notice the work that went into shaving down the frame: an aluminum chassis trimmed to 11.3 mm and tipping the scales at about 40 grams. The real change is what you see. A larger 1.92-inch LTPO AMOLED screen pushes 480 x 408 pixels and claims an eye-searing 3,000 nits peak brightness — a major jump from the D2’s 1,500 nits. Outdoors, that difference matters.

Huawei kept the D-series’ core promise: continuous, medical-grade blood pressure monitoring at the wrist. An airbag inside the strap (now slightly narrower) inflates to take readings, and the D3 supports 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring with trend reporting. Night-time checks are designed to be quieter, and the watch now logs pre- and post-exercise blood pressure alongside heart rate trends — small changes that nudge it closer to a clinical companion than a fitness tracker.

Health Glance returns, offering a 60-second snapshot across 11 indicators including heart rate, blood pressure and blood oxygen saturation. Connectivity steps forward, too: Bluetooth 6.0 joins the hardware, and a beefed-up 540mAh battery promises roughly six days of typical use. Color options include Mocha Gold and Black, and the launch price in the UK is £399.99, with sales starting September 23.

On the audio side, FreeBuds Neo aim to be more than fashion. These earbuds bring a dual-channel noise cancellation system rated up to 30 dB and adaptive algorithms that tweak ANC based on your surroundings in milliseconds. Inside sits Huawei’s third-generation audio chip, enabling up to 2.3 Mbps high-resolution transmission and a peak bitrate near 990 kbps. You get spatial audio, cross-platform compatibility with Android, iOS and Windows, and seamless dual-device pairing.

Available hues — Stellar Silver, Nebula Pink, Ice White and Starry Black — and a UK price of £119.99 position the FreeBuds Neo as a mid-tier contender. Official sales also begin September 23, with an early-order discount of £20 until October 26.

These two launches underline Huawei’s play: marry medical-grade sensing with everyday wearability, and back it with practical audio tech that won’t fuss at you.

Whether the Watch D3 can sway skeptics of wrist-based blood pressure remains to be seen, but it certainly raises the bar for what a smartwatch can try to do.
