The rear‑wheel‑drive version of BYD's new Dahan sedan carries a remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.197 and a claimed CLTC range of 1,008 kilometres, a figure BYD cites as the headline performance for its flagship electric sedan.

BYD will launch the Dahan on 13 October and says deliveries will begin within two weeks of the official unveiling. Pre‑sales opened two months ago with a price band of 249,900 to 299,900 yuan (approximately $35,300 to $42,400), covering three initial specifications targeted at the Chinese market.

Powertrains and range

All Dahan trims use BYD's second‑generation Blade lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery with a stated capacity of 102.3 kWh. BYD claims compatible high‑power charging stations can take the battery from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes. The standard rear‑wheel‑drive single‑motor layout is rated at 496 hp and 500 Nm, with a manufacturer‑claimed consumption of 11.5 kWh/100 km and a CLTC range of 1,008 km (about 820 km WLTP).

The model line-up BYD has announced comprises three variants: the 1008km RWD Premium, a single‑motor rear‑drive with 496 hp, 500 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, 11.5 kWh/100 km consumption and 1,008 km CLTC range (roughly 820 km WLTP); the 1008km RWD Flagship, which pairs the same rear‑drive powertrain with upgraded rear‑seat amenities and the same claimed 1,008 km CLTC range; and the 880km AWD Flagship, a dual‑motor all‑wheel‑drive tune producing a combined 764 hp and 910 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, 13.1 kWh/100 km consumption and 880 km CLTC range (about 715 km WLTP).

The Dahan’s low 0.197 drag coefficient is presented as a key enabler of the 1,008 km CLTC figure for the rear‑wheel‑drive variants.

BYD lists the Dahan’s exterior dimensions as 5,256 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, 1,510 mm tall, and a 3,130 mm wheelbase.

Chassis and driver‑assist equipment are standard across the range. The Dahan features rear‑wheel steering with a 4.95 m turning radius, a DiSus‑A two‑chamber air suspension, and the DiPilot assistance suite topped by a roof‑mounted lidar sensor. BYD says DiPilot supports urban automatic navigation, highway driving and automatic parking up to level 2 plus capability.

The interior includes a floating 17.3‑inch 3K central display running the DiLink 300 interface, a professional 31‑speaker audio system, and Nappa leather trim.
