Volkswagen Australia has unveiled a comprehensive set of updates for the 2027 Volkswagen ID.4 electric compact crossover, with the Pro model priced from AU$60,990 and the GTX from AU$70,990.

The headline changes focus on in-car technology, driver assistance and more personalisation across both trims. Volkswagen is introducing a new-generation Innovision infotainment system, returning physical steering wheel controls and expanded safety features as part of the model year 2027 refresh.

What the MY27 update brings

The Innovision layout centres on a 12.9-inch touchscreen display with integrated satellite navigation, complemented by physical steering wheel buttons and an enhanced ID. Light system. The ID. Light provides visual guidance via a thin LED strip at the base of the windscreen, including animated directional cues for upcoming turns.

Personalisation is extended with Driving Experience Selection with Atmospheres, which adjusts interior comfort and convenience settings in coordinated ways to create different cabin moods. New driver assistance and safety technologies added to the lineup include Traffic Sign Recognition, Front Cross Traffic Assist, a Proactive Occupant Protection System, the Predictive Speed Limiter and an enhanced Area View surround-view camera system.

The ID.4 Pro now carries a gross battery capacity of 84 kWh and the ID.4 GTX an 82 kWh gross pack; both support DC fast charging up to 175 kW.

"The MY27 updates introduce a meaningful range of enhancements across technology, safety and personalization, further strengthening the appeal of the ID.4 range for Australian customers," said Piergiorgio Minto, Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles. "With a new-generation infotainment system, additional driver assistance technologies and expanded customization options, the MY27 ID.4 delivers an even more compelling all-electric SUV offering."

The changes arrive as Volkswagen continues to roll out new and refreshed models globally, from pre-sales of the ID. Polo GTI in Europe and a Dune special edition of the Grand California for the UK to the all-new 2027 Atlas entering production in the United States.

In Australia Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has recently added the Crafter Runner and the Amarok V6 W600, while the passenger car division now brings these ID.4 updates to local buyers.

Volkswagen Australia has not specified driving range or recharging times.
