Oppo Find X10 Ultra May Radically Rethink Phone Zoom

If smartphone zoom were a sport, Oppo would be training for the title fight. Early leaks suggest the company is experimenting with a camera stack that could push long-range mobile photography into unfamiliar territory.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has teased a prototype that reportedly packs a dual periscope telephoto arrangement: a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto with roughly a 1/1.3-inch sensor alongside a 50-megapixel periscope super-telephoto using about a 1/1.95-inch sensor capable of 10x optical zoom. Those raw specs are the kind that make pixel peepers lean forward. But the post also warned the 200MP module isn’t locked in yet — an HP-series sensor remains under consideration, and Oppo even explored a larger 1/1.12-inch option earlier in development.

Why does sensor size matter? Bigger sensors collect more light and reduce noise, especially when you’re pushing zoom levels and cropping. Periscope lenses solve the optical path problem by folding it sideways. Combine a massive sensor with a periscope, and you get more usable detail at distance — at least on paper. The real test will be image processing, thermal management and how well Oppo’s algorithms stitch detail across focal ranges.

Leaks don’t stop with cameras. The Find X10 Ultra is rumored to sport a 6.89-inch 2K LTPO BOE display with ultra-narrow symmetrical bezels and support for the BT.2020 color gamut. Under the hood, the phone is expected to run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, likely built on TSMC’s 2nm node — which promises efficiency gains that could matter with a power-hungry camera system.

Then there’s the battery talk. Sources claim a capacity north of 7,000mAh, with some whispering numbers as high as 8,500mAh. That’s staggering for a flagship. Bigger batteries mean longer shooting sessions and extended screen time, but they also influence weight, thermal behavior and charging strategies. Oppo will have to balance stamina with ergonomics.

Official signals are mixed. Oppo Find series product manager Zhou Yibao has said the Find X10 Ultra won’t debut in 2026. Current leaks peg the Ultra’s arrival for Q1 2027, while the standard Find X10 trio — the base, Pro and Pro Max — could land around September to October 2026. That timeline gives Oppo room to finalize sensor choices and polish the software stack.

There are risks. Dual periscopes add complexity, and engineering trade-offs can turn headline numbers into mediocre real-world results. Will the phone manage heat during prolonged 10x shots? Can the ISP and computational pipeline retain detail without creating artifacts? Will the final sensor choice favor resolution or dynamic range? Those are the questions that will determine whether this is a genuine leap or an ambitious spec sheet.

For now, the Find X10 Ultra looks like a bold experiment: big sensors, deep zoom, and the kind of battery that suggests Oppo expects people to use the camera a lot.
