Ram brings a budget-friendly work van to North America
Ram has officially priced its new ProMaster City under the $40,000 mark, positioning the compact cargo van as a strong value play for small businesses and fleet buyers. Announced earlier this year, the US-market ProMaster City now lists for a base price of 39,995 dollars, which includes a 2,595 dollar destination charge. That pricing undercuts several rivals, coming in 3,495 dollars cheaper than the Chrysler Pacifica LX minivan, 8,970 dollars less than the larger ProMaster 1500 Cargo, and roughly 11,000 dollars below a comparable Ford Transit trim.

Not exactly new, but optimized for the US market
Though marketed by Ram, the ProMaster City is essentially the American-badged version of Stellantis' K0-series vans sold in Europe. It shares its underpinnings with the Citroen Jumper and is closely related to the Peugeot Expert, Fiat Scudo, and Opel Vivaro. That shared architecture helps explain the competitive pricing and fleet-ready practicality while offering proven European engineering adapted for North American commercial use.

Trims and notable features
Ram will sell the ProMaster City in two trims: Tradesman and SLT. The Tradesman is already well-equipped for a work van, featuring a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment screen, a digital rearview mirror, heated front seats, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering column. The SLT adds a touch of style and extra convenience, with body-colored bumpers, fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, and front parking sensors.
Safety and convenience highlights
The ProMaster City offers a modern suite of driver assistance features aimed at commercial customers who spend long hours on the road. Equipment includes:
- Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
- Rearview camera and rear parking sensors
- Automatic headlights with auto high-beam
- Driver attention alert

Optional configurations cover different window and body panel layouts, and buyers can add a bulkhead wall for secure cargo separation. A passenger version will also be available with seating configurations for either five or eight occupants.
Practical cargo and towing figures
Practicality is a core selling point. The ProMaster City provides 4,732 liters of cargo volume, with a cargo floor length of 2,822 mm and 1,242 mm between the rear wheel arches — dimensions that accommodate standard pallets and typical trade tools with ease. Payload capacity exceeds 900 kg and the van can tow up to 900 kg, making it a capable light commercial option for last-mile delivery, service technicians, and small contractors.
Powertrain and production
Powering the van is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 168 horsepower and 300 newton-meters of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Production of the ProMaster City will begin in Turkey later this year, with deliveries slated to start in the first quarter of 2027.

"A sensible, value-driven entry into the compact cargo segment," says one fleet manager who previewed the van. With practical dimensions, a competitive price, and a mainstream feature set, the ProMaster City should be an attractive option for businesses looking to stretch their fleet budgets without compromising on capability.
