Renault updates the Scenic E-Tech for 2027 with bigger range and smarter software
Renault has quietly refreshed its family electric crossover, the Scenic E-Tech, packing longer driving range, faster charging and a smarter in-car experience powered by Google Gemini. The changes arrive three years after the current Scenic generation debuted, and borrow several technical and software upgrades introduced on the Megane E-Tech facelift.
What’s new at a glance
- New LFP battery option and improved long-range NMC pack - Faster DC charging rates and shorter charge times - Google Gemini integrated into the openR link infotainment - Subtle exterior tweaks and new wheel and color choices - Enhanced driver monitoring and advanced assistance systems.

Design and interior: subtle exterior updates, smarter cabin tech
Renault has chosen to keep the Scenic's overall look familiar for now, delaying any major design overhaul to a later point in its lifecycle. Exterior updates are tasteful and limited to glossy black trim on the front and rear bumpers, two new aluminum wheel designs in 19 and 20 inches, and fresh paint options including a matte blue and a galactic grey.
Inside, the headline is the upgraded openR link infotainment that now runs Google Gemini instead of the standard Google Assistant. Renault includes three years of data connectivity, allowing owners to download apps from Google Play and access cloud services seamlessly. Practical cabin improvements include a ventilated magnetic wireless charging pad and several eco-friendly upholstery choices: Techno trim uses PET fabrics with more than 95 percent recycled yarn, the Esprit Alpine edition features titanium-look trim made from 75 percent recycled plastic, and the Iconic flagship offers grey or natural wood finishes.

Performance, battery and charging
Under the bonnet the Scenic E-Tech adopts the LFP battery chemistry already seen on the Megane E-Tech, paired with a single front-mounted electric motor rated at 223 horsepower. Two battery options are offered:
- Standard pack: 67 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) with cell-to-pack architecture. WLTP range is up to 467 km, around 37 km more than the previous standard battery. The pack supports up to 165 kW DC charging, allowing a 15 to 80 percent charge in approximately 24 minutes.
- Long-range pack: 89 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) pack, recently uprated by about 2 kWh of usable capacity, extending WLTP range to 642 km. This version supports up to 150 kW DC charging and reaches 15 to 80 percent in roughly 28 minutes.
The mix of LFP and NMC options gives buyers a choice between durability and energy density, aligning the Scenic with rivals that offer varied battery chemistries for different ownership priorities.

Safety and driver assistance
Renault has lifted a suite of safety features from the Megane, most notably a driver monitoring camera that tracks fatigue and attention. Face recognition also personalizes driver settings at the start of each trip. The Scenic now includes advanced assistance such as traffic jam assist, improved lane-keeping up to 70 km/h, and emergency stop assist if the driver becomes unresponsive.
These systems put Scenic in line with class-competitive ADAS offerings and strengthen its appeal for family buyers seeking both comfort and safety.

Market positioning and pricing
The updated Scenic E-Tech remains manufactured in Renault's Douai plant in France, while its electric motors are supplied from Cleon in Normandy. Pricing in France starts at 38,750 euros for the long-range 89 kWh Techno trim. The standard 67 kWh model will join the range in the coming months with a starting price near 31,750 euros.

Renault's approach is pragmatic: incremental technical upgrades and smarter software without radical styling changes. For buyers focused on range, charging speed and a modern connected cabin, the 2027 Scenic E-Tech becomes a stronger contender in the compact electric crossover segment.

Highlights
- Up to 642 km WLTP range on the long-range model
- 165 kW fast charging on the 67 kWh LFP pack
- Google Gemini integration and three years of connectivity
With these updates, the Scenic E-Tech aims to keep its family crossover credentials fresh in an increasingly competitive EV market.

Google Gemini onboard, ok. But is it useful without 3yr data? after that do you lose half the features? LFP sounds smart tho, curious about long term
Wow 642 km? didnt expect that on a Scenic, nice upgrade! Faster charge too, but hope price stays sane
