New GLA caught testing: what we know so far
Mercedes is preparing to retire the second-generation GLA that first arrived in late 2019, and spy photos now show the all-new 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLA being tested on public roads in Germany. Covered in patterned vinyl to hide final details, the prototype reveals a car that feels like a careful evolution rather than a radical reboot — familiar proportions, a gently arched roofline toward the rear, but fresh front and rear fascias that echo Mercedes’ latest design language.
Design and interior — evolution over revolution
From the images, the new GLA keeps compact dimensions so it won’t encroach on the slightly larger GLB. Expect new paint colors, revised wheel designs and updated bumpers and lighting signatures. Inside, Mercedes appears to be transplanting the CLA’s cabin layout, meaning the high-end trims will likely get the sweeping pillar-to-pillar infotainment display many buyers now associate with the brand’s newer models.
