2027 Renault 5 E-Tech Adds Range and Tech, UK Prices Hold

Renault UK has announced a 2027 model year update for the all-electric Renault 5 E-Tech that increases WLTP range and adds connectivity and interior technology while keeping the on-the-road starting price unchanged at £21,495.

The Renault 5 nameplate was originally produced between 1972 and 1996. Renault revived the badge in 2024 as a retro-modern, all-electric subcompact built on a new BEV architecture in France and sold across multiple markets, including the United Kingdom.

Range and powertrains

Renault UK says the 5 E-Tech’s Urban and Comfort Range powertrains have improved efficiency. The Urban Range uses a 40-kWh battery and a 120 ps motor, and Renault quotes a new WLTP range of up to 197 miles (317 km). The Comfort Range uses a 52-kWh battery and a 150 ps motor and is now quoted at up to 259 miles WLTP (417 km). Renault attributes the gains to optimized battery electronics and improved aerodynamics.

Technology and connectivity

For 2027 the 5 E-Tech gains a SmartMode that automatically cycles through Eco, Comfort, and Sport drive modes as conditions require. Interior tech upgrades include a magnetic, cooled wireless smartphone charger that uses the Qi2 standard and eCall compatibility with newer 4G and 5G mobile networks. Renault says Google’s Gemini AI assistant will be available via an optional over-the-air update to Google Assistant.

Design, trims and pricing

Renault adds new exterior hues including Flame Red and Shadow Grey. Midnight Blue is offered on techno+ and iconic five+ with a contrasting red roofline, and the iconic five+ receives a mottled blue graphic. Sticker packs will be available, and the range sees minor upholstery revisions.

Renault UK confirms evolution remains the only trim offered with the Urban Range powertrain, while techno+, iconic five+, and roland garros+ are upgraded to the Comfort Range. The introductory on-the-road price remains £21,495 and the model qualifies for the full £3,750 UK electric car grant. Orders are open; Renault has not announced when 2027 model year cars will arrive at UK dealerships.
